View Full Version : Question on Results

I just got a copy of my labs and I'm non-reactive so I'm very happy! I do have a few questions though...
My lab says:

HIV-1 AB Screen W/Refl --- non-reactive
note: a non-reactive result indicates that hiv-1 (htlv-III) antibodies have not been found in this patient specimen. A non-reactive result, however does not preclude previous exposure or infection with hiv-1.

So, is it basically saying that the test shows non-reactive as long as I have not been recently exposed? I guess I dont' understand the "note". Also, is this the only HIV test or is there also one for HIV2?
TIA!

I think as long as you've tested outside of the window period. I could be wrong, but there are alot of people who know more about that then i do!
Congratulations anyway....i bet you're feeling like a million dollars right about now!

I'm not sure, but when I got tested at the Health Clinic in Virginia they tested me for HIV1 and HIV2. I didn't know they were going to, but they did. I'm sure you can ask them if they test for both or just HIV1.

I'm not sure if a different test is required for both 1 and 2...
