I have had IBS for as long as I can remember and was diagnosed two years ago. I mostly have IBS C, but I do have an rx for Bentyl (Dicyclomine) which I take when the D hits.
For almost a month now, I have been taking the Bentyl every day and wake up with very loose stools and pain. I have also lost ten pounds (now 5'5" 107lbs) and appetite loss. I went to the Doctor and a test was done to see if there is blood in my rectum and there was. I submitted a stool sample and tests came back with all negative (including blood).
I was wondering if IBS gets worse as time goes by? Could it possibly be causing appetite loss though? I have also been very tired, but I don't want to bother my doctor with incessant testing if this is normal.

I was wondering if IBS gets worse as time goes by? Hi queen, I personally think that IBS does get worse. I lived with constipation for years and years and had ocassional pain, bloating etc. But, it wasnt until I found out that I had IBS that this illness became...I want to say out of control, but, that's not accurate. It's been crazy, to say the least. I absolutely hate it, it's life consuming for me.

Could it possibly be causing appetite loss though? I know that I don't want to eat especially when I'm bloated, constipated etc. I honestly don't want to eat anything, because I know that at some point, like the last few days, I become nauseas and don't want to do anything. I've thrown up more in the last few days that I have in years. I am constipated right now, and nothing is moving...so yes, it can cause you to lose your appetite.

I have also been very tired, but I don't want to bother my doctor with incessant testing if this is normal. Being constipated can make your body shut down. It can clog your brain, create a lethargy that is unbelievable. Having a bowel movement everyday is very important for good health.

I hope I've helped you some,

A :)
