Hi out there,
Has anybody ever had the need to use a wheelchair, and if so, how did you adapt it to your everyday life style? I've been on a cane for about 3 weeks now, but today, my legs got so bad, I could barely move them. Got to know when to give in. Please advise. This was a BAD day!

Fancy, I did two weeks in a wheelchair, but it wasn't related to MS, a truck ran over my leg. I can tell you that our world is not designed for wheelchair use. You have to force the issue, because you don't want to miss out on YOUR life. I refused to miss a concert my choir did - I made them wheel me up there to sing with my choir. I found a way to do as much "normal" stuff as I could.
You might consider trying out those electric carts they have in some stores (if you haven't already done so) like Walmart, grocery stores, etc. Gives you a good idea of what works and what needs to be adapted.

I've been using what they call a Rollator for the last few years. I always take a course each term at the local community college, and it seems to keep me on the road just fine. Here's the kind I use:

It is wonderfully sturdy, and has survived being dropped off the back of the pick-up truck (while on the road) three times.

I also use a power chair that I got on e-bay for cheap. Mostly I use this when I go to places that I'm going to want to really get around, like museums, and amusement parks, and such.
