Does anyone have any experience with a Continuous Passive Movement machine after a shoulder surgery in their home? My doc would like me to rent one and a CYRO cooling machine. The surgery will be quite painful and very lengthly to recover. the CPM moves the arm so I don't use my muscles and prevents stiffness. The CYRo is suppose to circulate cold water continously over the shoulder to help with pain and swelling.

It doesn't look like my insurance pays for it and the rent for the two would be about $300. Any one do this and was it worth the money? I have surgery on June 29th

I've never had it for my shoulder only for leg surgeries. But I can assure you that it does make a huge difference in your recovery. It does the moving for you, gradually, in increments, and keeps you from getting stiff. I highly recommend it's use. Believe me when I say it will mean a huge diffeerence in your recovery. I have also had the cooling machines too. Unfornuately{or fortunately} We are military so for me everything but food is free so I pay nothing else. It also kis helpful though.
Good luck to you. If you don't go with anything else definetly go with the CPM.

My hubby had a CPM after amputating 2 fingers in his hand. It was bulky, but after the damage he did, he has great mobility in his hand! It was amazing the result he got using it! His plastic surgeon said that he always recommends them they help alot! Best of luck to you!
