I just have a question. I have 3 sores from immediate dentures and the dentist said he said he does not want to adjust them yet. Are they dangerous or just kind of painful and ugly? Thanks for your help!

kerri0500 06-17-2005, 08:03 AM I just have a question. I have 3 sores from immediate dentures and the dentist said he said he does not want to adjust them yet. Are they dangerous or just kind of painful and ugly? Thanks for your help! Cinemagic 06-17-2005, 04:03 PM Sore spots are quite common with immediate dentures. The most frequent location is where the upper canine (eye) teeth were. A sore spot is not going to go away on its own and is very painful. There is not reason why your dentist should not adjust these areas right away. Why should you remain in discomfort when it's an easy fix? As time goes on and healing occurs, your bone and gum tissue will shrink. You'll need to have the denture relined anyway. I'd insist that he adjust these areas to make you more comfortable. CARAT414 06-17-2005, 05:01 PM Having your teeth removed is painful enough, having to deal with sore spots is not fair. I have had several sore spots and my dentist has done everything he can to help relief the pain. You should call your dentist back and tell them that you need something done to help relief the pressure on these areas. Until then you can try some of the over the counter oral pain relief items. I have used Benzodent and it worked for me while I was waiting out a weekend before I could go in to have some adjustments done. Good Luck kerri0500 06-17-2005, 08:47 PM Thanks guys for your help! I think the reason he doesn't want to do it yet is because I get the lowers in 3 weeks and he wants to wait until then...It has been about 10 days with these now...They are not dangerous though right? CARAT414 06-17-2005, 09:01 PM I dont believe that sore spot can be dangerous. But, I am not a dentist or in the medical field. I have a sore spot and a couple bone spurs that my dentist is going to help me with on Tuesday, and he still just has me washing my mouth out with salt water just as before. Good Luck kerri0500 06-17-2005, 10:58 PM thanks for the well wishes....It is just driving me nuts and now the dentures are starting to get loose,/.....this should be interesting...I am going to call him on Monday and see what he says...Right now I am using Orabase on them but it doesn't seem to make them go away...Thank you for all the help! |
