You can buy a body fat scale at any spoting goods store or online. I heard that if you use it at the same time everyday- like first thing in the morning it can be accurate at telling you if you are gaining or losing bodyfat. I am sure if you spend more you will get a higher quality one.
The one my mom purchased was around 80 dollars. It holds the info for 2 different peope. You put in if you are a man or woman, your hieght- and if you are an athlete or not. Then you step on without socks and it weighs you first, then 5 seconds later spits out a body fat. My mother, myself and my husband all used it and it seemed pretty accurate- but I am pretty sure its not 100% accurate. ts a good tool to have at home though, that way you don't have to pay for it at the gym and it gives you a rough idea.
I guess the way it works is it sends an electrical pulse through your body and therefore can distinguish between fat and muscle and water.

I have a set of bodyfat callipers I picked up at a department store very inexpensive. You measure 3 spots, one place on your chest, one on your stomach and one on your thigh. There are several sites online that can calculate BF% with these numbers and you height, weight, age, sex, etc. It can also be measured with the measurements of...I think your neck, abdomen and another variable. It's not 100% accurate, but will give you a ballpark figure and is good for measuring changes.
