View Full Version : Injectible fillers or fat transfers?

I really was interested to know if anyone has had good long, lasting results with any of the newer injectible fillers to plump out areas on the face, or fat transfers? There are so many new materials out there, but these procedures are pricey, and quite frankly, I don't like to throw money away for something that doesn't even last 3 months!
Thanx, Rella

Hi,
PBS just had a special on the bovine (?) or whatever it is called type of animal injections that they put in your face and it is very dangerous. Basically, it kills your nerves around your eyes (or other areas) so the skin loses the ability to wrinkle there (it can't stay curved up if the nerve is killed). Basically the stuff is poison that they inject into your face adn very dangerous. People everywhere are doing it but I would stay clear of it. There are other alternatives - just my sugggestion. I am not considering it but after hearing so much about it (and in my neuropsych class too we discussed its dangers), I just wanted to let you know since I saw your post.

Good luck!

Thanks for your infput. I think you may mean Botox which I wasn't really interested in, but I do hear this can be dangerous if it is injected in the wrong site it can cause temporary paralysis of muscles in the face such as eye blinking, etc.
I really was more interest in perhaps using your own harvested fat from one site and injecting this into areas of the face that are loosing fat which does happen as we get older. Would love to hear anyone who has had this procedure with good lasting results!

Hi there
I have had a lot of surgery but want a solution to my upper lip area. I had smoked for a lot of years (don't anymore) and have been left with vertical lines on the upper lip. First of all I had a dermis graft to the lips, which made my lips a lot fuller, but did nothing for the vertical lines. I then had collagen injections last year to plump out the upper lip and fill the vertical lines, but this only lasted for 2 months (£300 out of pocket). I do not want a permanent filler as I could have problems years later (face sunken, old face, but huge lumpy lips). I want something middle of the road - something that lasts for a year or 2 years). I live in the UK, and I have had 2 facelifts, browlift, laser to lower face, dermis graft to lips, lipectomy - hell I could go on forever. I have a journal, but this board will not let me post it. I have pictures on this journal of all my surgery. I just want everyone to see my surgery and all I have been through. I am presently suing my first surgeon who made a mess of me after my first facelift, leaving me with a 4" scar on my neck. Any help with my lip problem gratefully received, jw

I too have been researching for a filler lasts 1 to 2 years and like you jw are reluctant to use anything with acryl in the name. I too live in the UK and acryl substances are easily obtained. I had a facelift in 1997 and the results are awful. Left me with a gaunt hollow look.
Best wishes, Holly.

If you are not in a rush for an answer I will be able to tell you about a fat transfer in mid June. I am having a browlift, upper bleph, face lift and then lip augmentation with fat removed from my hip. I gladly share what happens!

I'm in no rush for a solution. Good luck with all your
procedures, I hope you'll be pleased with the results, and keep us posted about the fat transfers also.
