My 15 yr. old son has cp and has been weaned of tegratol last year with no seizures for the last 5 years. I have noticed behavorial changes and mood swings that was not present while on the tegratol. The nuero dr. told me today the the tegratol had "mood enhanceres" in it and that he wanted to try and put him on zoloft and see if it will help.
Has anyone had any experience with zoloft with their cp kids? Tyler is on no meds. at this time , uses a walker for short distance and w/c for distances, and has had 13 shunts and repairs, had a grade 4 brain hemmorage at birth at 26 weeks and is legally blind.
I just don't know what to do. His behavior is not that bad. Maybe it is just him being a teenager. The dr. says that most "normal' kids know how to handle stress and that kids like Tyler really does'nt know what to do with their emotions and stress and that zoloft will help.
Any help and input will be appreciated.
