Ive been on South Beach Diet (and exercising of course) for about 10 days. I had lost 11 pounds and was weighing myself every morning. This morning I gained 3 pounds since yesterday. I havent cheated or changed anything (except I had half of a hersheys kiss) but that cant make me gain 3 pounds.
Any idea?
Is this why they say dont weigh yourself every day?

Are you weight training? Drinking more water, eating higher sodium foods?

3 lbs in one day is most likely water weight.

that is exactly why they say not to weight yourself every day. Once a week MAX and do it the same time of day each time. Ideally first thing in the morning.

The best advice I can give anyone on a diet is, DO NOT WEIGH YOURSELF MORE THEN ONCE A WEEK. You did not gain 3 lbs. Its either water, you ate a little differently, more salt today, weight lifted, ect. The list goes on, trust me. By weighing yourself everyday, it can turn into a problem. That is what started my eating disorder. So once a week, please. Don't sweat the 3 lbs weight gain. You will probally burn it off quickly.

It's hard not to check the scale isn't it? I'm so bad for doing the same thing and it does play with your head. I too gained 3lbs over the weekend according to that dumb thing in my bathroom...well if you continue to weigh yourself every day your going to constantly see a fluctuation in your weight and it can become a tourment. Especially if you are doing well and then think your not and then change something, your diet or whatever when you don't have too. It can feel so good when it drops and so bad when it goes up. I'd try and stick with once a week too...easier said then done..i'm still checking at least three times a week. I guess the trick is to try and find another way to judge how your doing. Maybe measurements..don't know.
