about a year ago i used to party all the time,i never used to be at home, i had full energy and i was known to create a party wherever i went. with that followed lots of boys and sexual contact although protected sex (with condoms) was always used. I did however have oral sex which i never knew u could get HIV or AIDS through. i know u dont wana know the details but i hav to mention i did give bjs to a few boys swallowing the seimen, with little knowlegde.. when i heard my friend had AIDS thats when i realised how serious it was. i thought it was a little sickness hardly anyone gets but shes close to me and i care for her a great deal. i wish it hadnt happened to her but whats done is done with HIV and AIDS. now since i heard of her getting it, iv become paranoid. im needle phobic aswell so that doesnt help me in the process of getting a test.iv began to get flaky painfull skin on my armpit and i heard that flaky skin is a symtom. i also am losing my memory but then my brother tells me iv always been thick haha. maybe i have always been like this and only took notice now?! or maybe i do have HIV or AIDS. i am a slim person and always have been since i had annorexia and hav problems gaining weight. so all i do is loose or mantain my weight. Lately i have been getting diarrhea and i no u dont wana hear it but agen i hav to mention- not vomiting but u no... but its not that serious.. iv only had it for a 7days in total... from what iv explained, do u think i may have a case of AIDS or HIV?? Please pray for me as i pray for each individual with or without this terrible disease. another thing, my parents are really religious and it would kill them if i had to tell them i hav AIDS/HIV because they think im the innocent sweet virginal girl they once knew. please give ur honest opinion! my prayers are with all!- from X.T

You need to go have a blood test and be tested. Afraid of needles or not. The test isn't that bad. that way you will know for sure!

Well, first of all you may want to post this on the HIV/AIDS site here at HeatlhBoards as there are plenty of people there who go only to that site and not explore others and they could help you. Anyway, let me tell you what I know: While does not seem possible to contract HIV through oral sex (the date show pretty limited contraction and usually only if the person giving the oral sex has open sores -like canker sores- in their mouth. The HIV virus is pretty fragile and usually doesn't stand up well to saliva.

Secondly, you can come up with just about any symptom and see that it, in some ways, will mimic what we know of HIV/AIDS. THe point is is that sometimes a cold is just a cold and not anything else. Don't rely on the internet to explore for common symptoms because I guarantee you that you'll anxiety will trip you up and lead you believe you have it.

THirdly, of course, the only way to be sure is to be tested. IT is possible to go to you local Health Department at possibly request and ORASURE test which is a test that is done by taking a swab of cell from your cheek and testing it for AIDS antibodies. No, I don't know how it works.

Finally, hang in there. You are probably just fine and in the midst of an anxiety storm. Good luck. chris

Oral sex carries a pretty low risk for HIV. I think just seeing someone you know with a disease that most of us are ignorant about will definetly spark some fear in you. Your symptoms dont really mean much at all, since it could be anything. I think you're okay, and like Chris said, theres the orasure test. I think you should do it, just for a peace of mind. Well, while you may suggesting that "the esophageal lining from your throat to your belly is totally susceptible to exposure" I going to suggest that what you've said may be a little misleading. It would much like saying your foot is totally susceptible but the conditions would have be absolutely perfect ie: an open cut or sore and ejacutlation from an HIV+ partner directly into the wound.

Still, oral sex does carry a risk, but it appears, from the data collected that it is a minimal risk. Again, right conditions, open sores, cuts, chancre sores, and ejaculate from an HIV+ may lead to contraction. It also may not.

The risk is theoretical as fra as hiv is concerned but any unprotected sex has its risks ..... Not just for hiv but also many other infections .
A herpies symplex outbreak , cuts , sores or any kind of open lesion in the mouth or throat can make the risk very real but as far as intact skin studies show the risk is very slim .
The mouth is a very strong detorant against hiv because of ............
1) saliva is very acidic and also carries high concentrations of germ killing enzymes
2) the throat has a very strong coating of mucas to protect it against germs and also the bodies own stomach
acids and also the good bacteria and fungus that also lives in the mouth , throat and stomach
3) it would also have to survive the digestive process BUT and ulcer would also make a very good entry point and give it a foot hold to enter into the body .
4) the acidophilas ( good bacteria ) would also attack and engulf it
The case of hiv being able to infect during the act of oral sex is possable but in most cases it is slim BUT once again ANY act of unprotested sex does have its risks and it is better to play it safe than to be sorry and not just for hiv but many many other std as well .
