I stopped taking birth control for a month cause I ran out of the prescription before I could get to the doctors and I still havent got my period, my doctor told me I could start once my period started but since i haven't gotten it i havent been able to. Do you think it's ok if I start it again before I get my period?

I have been taking bc for 5 years. Awhile ago, I went off of it. I was off for about 2 months and my period didn't show. I just started taking the pill again and I started my period when I was supposed to on the pills. I probably did the wrong thing, but I wasn't having sex, so protection wasn't an issue for me.

You can certainly start taking the pills at any time, but be sure to use condoms or abstain from sex until you've taken the pill on time, correctly for seven days in a row. Also, be aware that since you are not starting on or just after your period, you are more likely to have breakthrough bleeding then if you were to wait for your next period.
If you've been sexually active recently, you might want to take a pregnancy test just to be certain you are not pregnant before beginning your pills again.
