well, guys, i've done it. i've scheduled a rhino with tabbal for may 23. i know some folks want to know much more about tabbal as a primary, so i will post here after surgery and let everyone know. i went from definitely deciding, thrpugh three consultations (pastorek, miller & tabbal) to scheduling with tabbal in about a month and a half, with a lot of reading on this board, the rhinonetwork board and general med sites. everyone's input really helped me do it so quickly, so... thanks!

well, it's done. i had a rhino with tabbal on may 23, and it went quite smoothly, i must say. of course, only 5 days post-op, so all is not yet revealed, but it's looking great. my work was mainly a narrowing of the upper third bridge (which looks perfect, even now) and a narrowing of the lower third tip cartiledges, which look much more streamlined but are still rather swollen & sore, as to be expected. i had very minimal bruising; my left eye was blackening underneath as i left the hospital post-op, and the bruising exteneded to under the right eye the next day, but my lids only had a slight purpling in the inner corner, and today, 5 days post-op, it's mostly yellow and almost gone. tabbal did the whole thing closed. he had told me that he would do it closed, with the option to "open it up at the end if he couldn't get the refinement in the tip that he wanted"... but apparrently he did not need to do that. he also did an alar base reduction, so i had a few stitches at the base of each nostril which came out today, and you can barely see the inscision line. i have to say, i am quite pleased and feeling great! there was very little pain and currently i am just still stuffy and runny, but no worse than a moderate cold. tabbal is not a touchy-feely guy... he said very few words to me before the operation, (i teased him, saying "do you even remember what we are going to do today?... an appendectomy!") and i did not see him at all afterward; he wasn't even there today for my followup -- the nurse said he'd see me in two months "when things settle down"... BUT my surgery could not have been smoother or more painless, the bruising was SO minimal compared to post-op photos i've seen online (and i am very fair and bruise quite easily!) and so far my nose looks great. i went out today and felt fabulous. so i would have to give dr. tabbal my wholehearted reccommendation given my experience so far. i already love it and the tip hasn't even calmed down yet. i would say if you can deal with the "no pictures" and the business-like demeanor, dr. tabbal is first-rate. thanks to all on this board for helping me make my decision so quickly. regards.

I've scheduled primary rhinoplasty with tabbal on june 27th. I'm really excited but also very nervous. It's very comforting to know everything with you went great. He is also doing a chin implant with me. I understand what you mean about his deamenor. There is something I definitely trust about him even though he's not the warmest person I've ever met. I believe he has the eye for great surgery. He also told me it would be closed but might need to be open. Does he just decide when your already on the table? That kind of frightens me. I really don't want a lot of visible scarring. Ok well I hope you healing process keeps going well and any info you could share with me would be great. Congrats!!

I'm considering doing a primary rhinoplasty with Dr. Tabbal. Can you please tell me what his fees are?

I've been on two consulations so far and have received prices of $5,000 and $7,300.

Thanks

Did you have general anesthesia with Tabbal or local sedation?

One thing I have to say about Dr. Tabbal, I have to beg to differ on his work demeanor. When I visited with him, he was very warm. He sat back and thoroughly examined the external of my nose, cheeks, and chin. He took the time out to explain exacting what he would do, how he would do it and how long it would take. He was actually impressed that I had some knowledge of the procedure before hand. After my consultation, I left, but realized I forgot to ask if I could see before and after photos. Later that day, the receptionist said that he would see me once again later that day, I believe it was the end of the work day for him. He took the time out to actually go over a photo with me lol....did computer imaging for me and suggested anytime I have questions to contact him. By far he did not appear arrogant as I've heard in the past.
