Hi,

I am starting on The Ultimate New York Body Plan by David Kirsch. The plan asks for two protein shakes a day. I heard that someone died using a powder formula from gnc. I was wondering If it would be safe to have whey protein. If so, what should I look out for?

Thanks

Dave

I have a whey protein shake at least 5 days a week. As far as I know there is nothing wrong with it. My shakes are low carb also. I don't use them for a body building reason, just for the low carb nutrients. I like the Designer Whey. I also use the egg white protein shake mix.

I don't know anything about someone dying from using them, if so there must have been other things going on than just the shakes.

I use Healthy N Fit egg white protein powder in Strawberry Passion. My nutritionist turned me onto it, and it's not bad! Supposedly it has a higher amino acid profile, and egg is a superior form of protein compared to whey or soy.

I think their good for you. I have one atleast 5 days a week. I started with gnc and I'm still here. I will say, if this diet consist of only protein shakes, stay away from the diet. I tried a diet like that years ago and messed up my body.

I use the ones at GNC. There great, and I havent died yet!! Honestly, you can croak by eating anything. You might even hear someone dying from eating a energy bar.

of course they're good for you. you can't ever have enough protein, and most people have a hard time getting enough without overloading in saturated fats.

I know amino acids are really good for everyone but are the high protein shakes also good if you have liver disease??
I am hoping to get into top shape (as much as I can) and don't smoke and have stopped drinking, but am unsure which supplements or shakes might be of benefit along with a fully balanced diet.
Cheers,
JJKoala :)

Protein shakes are good for repairing muscle, so It's always good to have one after weight training.
