There is a girl of 8 years old who installed the electro-cochlea 4 years ago. The wire of electro-cochlea protruded from her earhole before three months. One hospital in China operated again for her. And her parents spent $20000 for the operation. However, after several days, the wire proturded again. The doctors said there was no such cases in China before her case. So please give me some suggestions about the situation.

I work with deaf children, some implanted, some not, but I can tell you that I have NEVER seen this happen. Do you mean the wire is actually coming out of the skin behind the ear?

Is there some organization there (other than the cochlear corporation or hospital) that the parents can contact? Perhaps they could refer them to another doctor or hospital that could help them.

In fact, the electrode of the electro-cochlea protruded from the earhole but not from the skin behind the ear.

We contacted some doctors in Beijing and other big cities. All those doctors said they have never seen such case before.
