losing weight works on a simple formula - eat less and burn more
you're only 13, at your age you should focus on getting out and enjoying your youth, not be getting so worried about your weight. do you like sports? maybe see if you and your friends can get together regularly in a park or something and get active like playing football or basketball. try walking wherever you can, like taking the stairs instead of the lift, or getting off the bus a stop early and walking the rest of the way. its by making small changes like this that will help you, as you will be able to stick with it more easily than some extreme regime.
as far as your diet goes, cut out junk food. i.e. fried foods, fast food, fizzy drinks, sweets, chocolate, bisucits etc. these foods have little nutritional value, and will do nothing for you. try to eat lots of fruit and vegetables, eat brown bread instead of white, nuts, dried fruit, white meat, tuna, eggs. also, drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated.
it's good that you're taking an interest in your health at this age i think. its alot easier to get control over your weight and eating habits if you start off young. stick with it, and dont give up. losing weight is pretty much all common sense. i think everyone knows what foods are good/bad for you, and whether they're taking enough excercise. its all a matter of whether you have the will power to actually do it, and not just talk about it.

Hi, Ding is correct. You first have to watch the junky food. Hard, I know. Try one step at a time. Try eliminating one food the first week. Drop something else the next week. But add changes slowly. Trying to do it fast or the easy way never works. Having smaller meals, more often, helps. (Small Breakfast, Mid morning snack, Lunch, Afternoon snack, Dinner, night time snack.) Just make sure the foods you choose are nutritious. Soda/tonics, are particularly loaded with sugars, which convert to fat in your system. Limit breads, potatoes, pasta ("white foods") which are starchy, and convert to fat in your system. They're ok to eat, just watch the amount.
At 13 you probably have a really high appetite, and are about to hit a growth spurt, so don't starve yourself. Don't crash diet. The key to optimal weight is healthy eating. Once you adopt a heathly diet, with good food choices, you stop craving junk foods. You will feel better, have more energy and grow into your bodys' optimal weight.
Remember it isn't about speed in losing, because you already know that makes you feel awful. It all about eating healthy and feeling good. And remember to drink plenty of water. (That's hard for me too, but I do feel more awake when I drink more water.)
Congratulations on wanting to take care of yourself at such a young age. You can avoid a lot of health problems later in life, if you make changes now. But don't obsess about your weight. Enjoy yourself.

1. DON'T starve yourself -- you need calories to grow. Besides, if you starve yourself, your body will use calories more slowly, so you won't lose that much weight anyway.
2. Make sure you always have healthy food around to eat as soon as you feel even slightly hungry. If you're always full with things like carrot sticks and celery, you won't crave the unhealthy stuff. Prepare much more than you imagine ever eating so you don't run out -- even if you feel like you're stuffing yourself with celery sticks, it can't hurt too much. Good ideas are carrot, pepper, and celery sticks; whole-wheat crackers; apple or pear slices; cheese sticks (in small amounts). The best way to do it is to have mostly fruits and veggies, but also carry crackers or whole-wheat pretzels around with you for when you have an urge for starch.
3. At your age, you shouldn't be restricting yourself too much because it can interfere with growth. Instead, eat the proper foods. If you find it hard to cut junk food altogether, limit yourself in advance. Knowing you have an allowed treat if you want it will keep you from uncontrolled binging when you break down and have something "forbidden." Assigning yourself one treat a day, or three a week, and letting yourself bank only one or two at a time gives you also the added chance to "beat" yourself -- while the treat is available if you need it, if you DON'T take it, you will feel especially accomplished because you could have.
4. Don't give up. No matter how badly you binge any one day, it can only get worse if you give up. Better figure out what it was that set you off -- maybe being too restrictive, maybe hanging out with people eating fast food too often, maybe letting yourself get too hungry -- and try avoid letting it happen again.
