My daughter was diagnosed with swimmers ear yesterday.
She woke me up at the crack of dawn complaining about ear pain.
I got her to the Dr. ASAP and she took one look and said swimmers ear.
I don't doubt that it's swimmers ear as she has been living in the water.
My question is how long does it take to clear up? What treatment have you used?
They gave me some antibiotic drops to put in and told me NO water for at least 5 days. After water to put equal parts of vinegar and alchohol in her ears and have her wear ear plugs in the water.
She just seems so miserable.

There is also some numbing drops they can give you that helps with the pain.
I would also recommend an EAR BANDIT along with the ear plugs. My daughter has worn it for the last 3 summers and it really helps keep the plugs in place. Added benefit - it keeps her hair out of her eyes and she can color-coordinate it with her swimsuits.

Is that just like a swim cap? I have the numbing drops from a previous ear infection but the Dr. said try not to use them because it could interfer with the antibiotic drops getting down there good?

No - the bandit - is more like a wrap. It velcroes in the back so it's adjustable. I originally bought them from the ENT doc, but I have since found them at Walmart now.
Called the Ear Bandit - or ask for a head wrap.
Hope it helps.

Thanks I will. Figures I was just at walmart too! I had to get a bottle to put alcohol and vinager in. She said if you put a few drops in the ear after swimming it prevents it from starting. Wish I knew that last week!
Thanks for your help.

Yeah - the alcohol dries up the water keeping it from collecting behind the eardrum.
And to give you some heads up - ears ALWAYS hurt worse at night from laying down all night. Maybe prop your daughter's head up some tonight to help everything drain a little better.

Well our Walmart doesn't have them? I just combed the store every where from Pharmacy, sporting goods, swim wear, toys, pool supplies.
I even called a Scuba store and they hadn't heard of them. What department where they in. Are they made of latex? I am shopped out for today but don't need one until Monday.
Thanks
