Anyone had laser hair removal? Am wondering how many treatments and if it worked. Thanks!

I recently spoke to someone who opted for electrolysis, due to lower cost and greater permance of hair loss. Laser hair removal does not necessarily do the job. It is best on those who have the combination of dark hair and light skin, since the laser seeks the pigment.

One of my lady friends tried the laser and was disappointed with the method. She said it took too many applications and did not seem to stop her hair growth. Plus, she said it was way too expensive.
She is now going through electrolsis and is about half finished and is pleased.

I have had laser hair removal and I'm very pleased. It's my understanding that it does work best for those of us with light skin and dark hair. I had two treatments about 1 year ago for my upper lip and chin. There are still a few hairs that I have to pluck, but it's MUCH better than before and if I had a couple of more treatments I think it would be even better. But I'm waiting until they perfect the laser for lighter hair because that's mostly what's left. The treatments I had cost only $150. It was completely painless and within a couple of hours there was no redness or swelling. I would highly recommend this procedure for people with dark hair and light skin.

I am in the middle of a series, and am pleased. It works best on course hair. After 2 treatment on bikini area, it is almost completely gone, only a few have grown back. It is very smooth, no ingrown hairs either. I probably need only 1 or 2 more treatments. I also had it on upper lip and is not working as well since the hair is finer there. It will probably take the full 5 treatments. I do break out with whiteheads after the lip treatment, but I live with it and it goes away after a couple weeks. They say it works best if you wait at least 8 weeks in between treatments, no sooner. The upper lip cost is $140 per treatment or if you pay up front it is $399 for 3, or $595 for 5. Bikini is more.

I know I posted to this the other day but now my post is gone. I had laser hair removal on my upper lip, they used the gentlelase plus. So far I have had 2 treatments and am very pleased, the hair was fine but dark and it has worked great so far. I paid $150 per treatment. Yes it is kind of expensive but if you find a experienced tech and the right kind of laser you will be fine. You should have your treatments done about 6-8 weeks apart. Just check around make sure you find somebody that has done many treatments before, ask lots of questions. Stay away from flashlamps though, they do not work, even though most places will claim they do. A flashlamp is not a laser and you will not be pleased with the results.

They used the gentlelase plus on me, which is an alexandrite laser.

I had my treatments done with the Altus Coolglide Laser. It treats African American patients with great efficacy. The old light skin dark hair requirement is out the window.

i have just had a laser hair removal done on my full front. my hair was very very course and full. after only one treatment it was amazing. very little hair grew back , and the ones that did were actully much finer. i plan on having another treatment in two weeks (6 weeks later) i highly recomend having it done. the CoolGlide was used on me,and cant get over how well it worked. if anyone in the boston ma area is thinkin or it, i highly recomend this place i went. let me know if you are interested.

Ive done a few treat myself. Done with the litesheer diode laser. Supposidly it can be done on any type of skin as the laser reads the color of the folicols and not the skin color. 3 treats for upper lip and probably have 3 hairs left. need one more. bikini same thing - dont even think i need the 4th one. Upp. lip cost me about 400 and bikini about 700. Dne it in a clinic in Montreal.
