does anyone have vision problems with anxiety? When I am laying down (I don't have to be laying down to have this, but notice more when I am laying down) I can see squiggly lines. Its really weird and scares me a little. It makes me have a panic attack thinking I have a major brain problem. I had an MRI in Feb. becuase I've had recurrent ear infections but that came back normal.
Any ideas or reassurance??

it could be anything, like your eyes adjusting to the light. anxiety can make you very hyper-aware so that you suddenly notice all the odd shapes and lines in your eyesight. i went through a phase where i thought my eyesight was changing for the worst, but i was just so anxious that i was freaking out about the common visual aspects that you normally don't pay attention to. stress does odd things to your body and it's normal especially to feel a sensitivity to your senses.

if you're truly worried about your eyes then maybe go for a check up. i'm guessing this is just anxiety related and the best thing you can do for yourself is to keep yourself distracted and focused on something else.

My eyes are like that. Nothing wrong with me but panic and anxiety. I think it is part of the disconnected feeling that accompanies the anxiety.

I've had it too - I even catch myself staring in the mirror trying to analyze what's wrong with my eyes...geez. I have to say it was much worse when I was on Lexapro. Hang in there - this is just another ugly anxiety symptom.

Have you seen an opthalmologist? Sounds like when you are looking at a bright surface, like the ceiling, you may be noticing "floaters". Just the little bits of cellular material floating in the vitreous of the eye. If you close your eyes and face the sky (on a bright sunny day) do you "see" this? I've had this since a teenager. It's harmless unless there are other vision symptoms. I have anxiety too, but anxiety doesn't seem to make it any worse.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad to know that others have this as well! I was really scared for a couple of days, but I think its something I just never noticed before. Before I started having anxiety back in Dec. I never went to the doctor, was always healthy and never worried abotu anything. Now I worry about EVERYTHING and notice everything too. Its horrible.

Thanks again everyone.

severe anxiety or a panic attack can cause fading vision. blurred vision or tunnel vision for a while
