View Full Version : Nausea and bloatiness

I have been on the pill now for about 5 years.
I have taken microgynon - which wasn't right for me as i felt really swollen each morning when i woke up.
Then i started taking Yasmin two years ago and i have noticed for years now that i feel naucious every day - usually after ive eaten.
I went to the doctor who didnt advise me with much (cos health service in the UK is RUBBISH) apart from asking me whether i was pregnant - which i werent, then doctors advised me to eat better (which suggested to me that i may have a food allergy as i feel sick and bloated usually only after eating) but they didnt actually test for anything. Finally i had a laproscopy done as i was also having pain during sex when deep thrusts were undertaken, however, nothing abnormal was found.

Now, a few weeks ago i saw another doctor who said that nausea is a side effect from most pills and so she changed me to Loestrin 30 which is designed to reduce nausea. i have now been on this pill 3 weeks (enough time for it to be adjusted to my body and notice whether nausea has gone) and i am still experiencing nausea as i always do.
i am getting sick and tired of this as doctors assume its the hormones in the pill i cant handle - does anyone else get these feelings of sickness and extreme bloatiness or fullness especially after eating and whilst on the pill? or does anyone know of any other reasons that it could be?

I am a vegetarian which shouldnt make a difference because i usually follow a healthy enough diet as anyone else. i often feel tired without having done anything at all (but then the weather could be blamed for that) and often have toiletting problems in terms of passing foeces.

example - just now i ate a small sandwich with no butter, just cheese and ketchup and had to stop half way through due to feelings of sickness.

HELP!!!!!!

I feel your pain. I've only been on the pill now for 3 months and the nausea seems to be worsening. I feel as if I can't drink alcohol now because everytime I do I experience some type of nausea, and sometimes it continues through the next day. I'm on Estrostep FE right now and I have an appoinment with the gyno next week and I am definitly going off of this. The worst feeling is being nauses all the time. I wish I could help you, but I'm going through the same thing, and it's nice to know it's not just me!

thankyou for your reply colleen.
yes it's certainly nice to hear someelse thats in the same boat as me.
last night i went to the herbal shop and the lady recommended aloe vera juice you can get it from all good herbal shops and can even get one with cranberry now so that it takes away the bad taste. you take a tablespoon before you eat and it soothes and lines your stomach - not tried it yet but hope it does the job until i find the actual culprit as my reason for nausea and bloatiness may not even be the pill.
next week im due to end a packet of pills and have my 7 day break - i have decided (as the health service is rubbish) to do my own experiement. i am going to come off my pill altogeher for a month to see if i still suffer the effects i am getting. obviously using other contraceptives if i should have any sexual intimicy. my boyfriend is very understaning with this situation so hes interested in seing the results too. if the problem is arrising from the pill then he says he will try the male pill when it eventually comes out (its just trusting a bloke to take it correctly and promptly as us ladies do!)

guess time will tell!

good luck to your pill change!

Good luck on the herbal method. Let me know hoe it works. I've been wondering lately if it's the pill thats making me nasues too...but I've only been feeling this way for 3 months and I have just happened to be taking this pill for 3 months! I'll let you know how switching pills goes.
