Hi Friends,

I have been PM for over a year now with all the common symptoms that most gals go through. My periods are closer together (each monthly cycle getting closer and closer) and for me, the past year my periods have not only been shorter but less painful and not as heavy...UNTIL this month!

I had cramps a few days before I started and when I started, WOW! did I cramp, I had painful-painful cramps for most of the day yesterday, at one point I had to go to bed, I was in tears with cramping and a VERY heavy flow.

Things eased up last night and this morning things were back to normal (at least I thought they were) This morning, the flow was normal with no cramps until after lunch and... BAM! It was a re-run of yesterday! more pain and the heavy flow returned. This is very uncommon for me.

I was just curious if anyone else has experienced changes, etc. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Heavy menstrual flow, to where I thought I was hemorraghing, along with labor pain cramps were one of my initial signs of perimenopause when I was in my late 30's. I had no idea what was to come next. I complained to my ob/gyn for almost 2 years about the heavy bleeding and finally she agreed to do a vaginal sonogram. The diagnosis was polyp and fibroids. Since the removal of the polyp I no longer have those "gushing" periods, but the labor pain cramps are still here. It's my guess that the fibroids are causing such intense pain, but since I'm rapidly approaching menopause I do not want to have them removed. After menopause they will shrink on their own. I can already tell that they are beginning to shrink, because I no longer have horrible lower back pains. Since my fibroids are in the back of my uterus pressing agains my colon my dr. felt that might be the cause of my back pains.
