...........would you allow your child to be put on meds. Can you give me reason why in your answers. I am fixing to take my daughter in to be checked for this. I know she has to have some form of it. I am just scared of giving her meds because i have heard that they can lead ot depression. The last thing I want is my child to be depressed. It has gotten to the point that when she starts kinder this yr and we see there is a problem with her learning I will end up homeschooling her so that I can work with her more one on one.

I see you haven't gotten any responses yet.
I also came here looking for some more info for my kids. My 8 yr old son is more on the AD side - my 6 yr old daughter on the hyper side. I have filled out the forms for both of them and waiting on the teacher's responses before taking them into the doc for evaluation.
If you do hear anything, please post back and I'll do the same - so we can help each other out some.

Hi! My 11 yr old was diagnosed a few years ago, we have been trying to find something that works. we are very torn, not sure what is the right way to go. He is very ADHD,was very depressed on adderall, we were frightened. Tried no meds for awhile he did very poorly in school. Now trying a low dose of ritalin during school, he did better. He will be off for the summer.
Now my 8yr old was diagnosed. He is the inattentive type. So far ritalin & concerta did not agree with him. Now we are trying strattera, but very reluctant because of all the negative feedback. He is an intelligent boy but he did very poorly on the state tests becasue he can not pay attention long enough to get all the information.
Somedays we feel like our kids are medical guinea pigs. Don't really want them to be on meds but not sure what else to do to keep them productive at school. Feel like we're between a rock and a hard place.
So not sure if that answered your question, but I'm sure we all are trying to do the best for our kids.
