Hi,
I am new to this board, I just got breast implants 1 week ago, my doctor put them over the muscle and I am in so much pain I feel like I am going to die!
It feels like someone beat the crap of of me with a base ball bat! I kept getting shooting sharp pains in my breasts, burning pain, I tried massaging them like my doctor said and they always hurt worse after.. and when I wake up in the morning it is worse! I can barly walk and need help out of bed.... Can anyone tell me if this is normal? When I went back to get my stiches out my doctor said he has never seen anyone in this much pain before and was shocked!
Any information would be greatful thankyou

What was wrong with your real breasts to be worth all of this? I thought the new trend was to go with your real natural breasts? I hear many women are getting implants out as real breasts are healthier?

Blueeyes23,
I had breast implants put in about 6 years ago and I
had all the same feelings you did. What I did was
get into the bath tub full of warm water and bend
over to get them in it. I was very very achy the first
week. If you have any pain pills you might try taking them. I wished I had never got mine because I have had nothing but trouble with them. Mine bottomed out which means they fell below the nipple, also had one leak and replaced. I have been thinking of removing mine for a long time. I also have problems with alot of illness such as Fibromyalgia etc. Hope everything turns out for you.

blueeyes-
I had implants put in about 3 years and 10 months ago. When I first got them I was really depressed emotionally. I cried all the time and I too was in pain.
However I didn't know of the length they lasted until recently when I read the post about 'Do implants Expire'. I guess I didn't do my homework on implants. I had called and found someone that was less expensive than anyone else and went to him. He didn't mention anything about 7-10 years to me. I was under the impression of them lasting 20 years, and replacing them only if they deflate. My implants were put in wrong too. My right breast wasn't put in the pocket and my left breast was. This makes my right breast hard and numb. That feels good to say. I haven't been able to tell my close friends or family about this. I was ashamed or maybe embarrassed. They do look pretty much the same.
I only wish now that I would have spent more money and went to someone else. Now I have to worry about replacing them in possibly less than 6 years. This has been a very devastating experience for me, and yes I am still feeling ashamed of myself.
Try not to get upset about the pain, this will only effect your emotions.
I believe you will like your implants if they were put in correctly and you know what to expect from them.

According to everyone I've talked to, it depends a great deal on the doctor. I had overs and I didn't even feel ANY pain at all. I felt great the day after surgery. I have heard unders hurt really bad, but then some girls I know have unders and said it didn't hurt bad, but that they had a really good doctor. Sorry to hear about your pain!

Hi Everyone thanks for replying back to me :)
Stilljustagirl: I have always wanted bigger breast my whole life, I was a small B I use to be bigger but from loosing weight I lost my breast and my left breast was larger then my right, It is really hard for me to show them off to my boyfriend, I am very happy with what they look like now, I just want the pain to end :(
Feelinpuney: I have a lot of other health problems as well just like you, the thought crossed my mind it was because of my fibo and tmj, do you think that is why you had such problems? I was just told by my specialest this is was is wrong with me, soI am not to informed about both yet,I am going to go on the borad about headaches and see what people say... So is this pain I am having normal? I tried warm instead of ice so it seems to be helping I guess it will just take time! I was just told when you go over the muscle you dont have bad pain like under, of course I would have to be the one this happens to. How did your breast bottem out? I have never heard of it, how do you know if that happens, and is they ways to prevent it? I am so sorry you had such trouble with your implants, life is just not fair to us sometimes, I made an appointment to go back to see what my doctor saids...thanks for you input! :)
Tifanie: I did take my time in finding a good doctor, I am still glad I went to who I went too, I just seem to have bad luck and are worried something else it wrong, It has only been 9 days so it is still early I just wanted to know it was normal I was doing research and came across this website! Dont feel ashamed about it sweetie, you did this becasue you wanted it, and you knew it would make you feel better about yourself. So did you get your breast under the muscle? I cant believe they put your implants wrong, cant you sue them for that? I am finally happy with them they look good, but I am just in pain every minute of the day I want the pain to go away so I can enjoy them! :) thanks....
Vegasgirl: WOW, you are so lucky you did not have any pain, how long did you wait to go back to work? I just hope this pain I am having is normal, it worries me very much, I heard also under is way more painful..I am so glad I went over, the pain I am in now it horrorable, I cant even image going under..thank for you input...
take care everyone!

Overs are generally really easy. Did you have adequate breast tissue for overs? I was a 36C to begin with, and I've heard they usually don't do overs unless you have a lot of breast tissue. If you were really small, like an A cup, and they went ahead and put overs in you, THAT could be the problem. Your skin could be trying to stretch more than it can. What was your original size? What does your doctor say about this pain?? Good luck sweetie, I hope your pain subsides soon so you can enjoy your new additions!!! I had tenderness but no pain, and I was ok for working in a week.

I have unders and had pain for a couple of weeks. I remember the mornings being the worst. It should be getting a little better each day for you. Please ask your PS about using heat. I have been told that you should never use a heating pad or hot water bottle on implanted breasts. Good luck to you.

Hi,
VegasGirl: my breast were a small B I had a little skin to streth becasue I lost a lot of weight, my PS said if I went under I could have a big chance of getting a double bubble, like two breast creases so I did not want to take that chance, and he did not want to do it under for me!
I went to the doctor yesterday and he said it was nerve pain, he told me to put heat every two hrs and gave me a muscle relaxer, I feel a lot better today, the pain is not as bad, when does the sorenst go away? Did you have that? I feel like someone hit me with a bat! How big are you now?
Zoeyoe: my PS told me to use heat, he said not a heating pad but moist heat like a hot rag on me or take a warm bath, how come it is bad to use heat?
thanks to everyone that has answered me! :)

Blueeyes,
I was told that a heating pad or hot water bottle heats up the fluid in the implants also, and can cause burns. I'm sure your PS knows what he is talking about. Feeling better today?

Both normal! I remember getting out of bed and the pain that I felt. I think it has to do with swelling as you are lying down. I dreaded standing up, and it lasted an hour or two. It passes. The shooting pains you are experiencing are most likely nerves regenerating and that passes also. Believe it or not, that is a good thing....the nerves healing. I am a year post and don't remember the last time I had pain. It's probably been nine months!

Well at least it is a good thing, it is just really painful I just wish the pain would go away soon, my doctor told me it was nerve pain, but this pain is so bad.. :( I only got them done on Oct 15th so I am just worring to much, I just want to know everything that is going on with my body and to know it is normal and nothing wrong....thanks for the advice! :)

Blueeyes,
My implants bottomed out because of the plastic surgeon made the pocket too low plus did not fill them correctly. I did not have as much pain as you are having only the first few days. Alot of people think you can get sick from implants and I am not sure if thats why I am sick. I have had Fibro for about 1 1/2 years now. There are a lot of women that say that is the reason they are having their's removed. Good luck.

Hi feelinpuney,
I dont know why I am having so much pain, I believe it if from my fibo too,I went over the muscle and even my doctor was suprise I was in this much pain :( I ask the nurse about it at my PS office, but she really didnt know anything about fibo. I had to explain it to her... it get me mad that a lot of people dont know or understand what it is...
Did they replace your implants or did you have to pay for them botteming out? Or what I should say is are they going to pay for it, I think you said you still have them in...are they Saline? I hope that does not happen to me, Do you think it was the doctor you went too, that cause you to have all these problems? I am so sorry you are having and had so much trouble with your implants...I hope you can get it all taken care of...and get back to feeling better soon :)
I am just having a lot of nerve pain, as what my PS said, I hope thats all it is, I just want them to stop hurting....It is hard for me to sleep and drive my car...to do anything....I am a waitress so I am not sure when I will be able to work again, I am hoping soon....
ZOE: you were right, he said it was nerve pain....thanks DR. Zoeyoe :)
take care all,

when you say "fibro" - do you mean fibrocystic disease? That's what I have - pain every month...which is why I hesitated to get implants.
It's too painful for a yearly mammo as it is and I also get ultrasound to keep an eye on those cysts..I didn't even bother to ask my surgeon about implants...he'd probably kill me! :)
But just wondering if it IS cysts you are talking about how they affect the implant. I hope you are feeling much better!!!

Hi Debbi,
When I wrote fibo I ment Fibromyalgia, I am so sorry to hear about what you have, that must be really painful I am so sorry you have to suffer from that every month..How is you pain? I wonder if you could get implants, have you done any research on it? Do you take any medications for it, Have you ever gone to any really good PS and ask what they thought about it? Sorry for all the questions, maybe I can ask my doctor when I go back and see what he saids if you want? I am feeling so much better, I am still having pain but not as bad, my arms just seem really weak, but the nerve pain is getting less everyday :) thank god!
I wish you the best :) Let me know if you get implants, or want me to ask my doctor :)

Not to worry. Those sharp pains are actually electrical impulses in your body. That will go away. Have you taken your temperature? If it is over 101 degrees you need to contact your doctor.
ICE PACKS are the way to relieve pain and pressure. I got the reusuable ones that are made of some sort of jelly substance so even when they are frozen they are still soft.
This is my second augmentation. I had one 15 years ago, and one ruptured recently so I am 1 week post op.
I am not having near the pain you are, but everyone's threshold for pain is different. Make sure you take your pain medication. It should at least be taking the edge off. Get your doctor to get you something else if its not working. The healing process goes quicker if you are not in pain.

you are so sweet to care!!! No, they are 'fine' most of the time, just now and then towards my period, do they hurt...and not as bad as I've heard they could hurt!! LOL So I doubt I will ever get implants just for that reason. I'd worry about them interfering with the cysts in case they ever 'changed'. I can always ask my surgeon, he's already taken out two benign cysts so far - I doubt he'd go for the idea.
Glad you are feeling better and enjoy your new look!!! I'll stick with my padded bras until maybe one day I get up the courage (and KNOWLEDGE) to go for it.
take care!!! :)
