Hi. I've been researching California plastic surgeons for a rhinoplasty and chin implant. Some doctors claim to be affiliated with universities, but when I check out their claims, it's not always true!

I am scared of deciding, because I want to make sure I choose the right doctor for me.

Does anyone have any referrals for me?

Or any comments on this list of doctors I've managed to pare down to?
Dr. Zarem (Santa Monica)
Dr. Wolfenden (San Francisco)
Dr. Fleming (Beverly Hills)
Dr. Timothy Miller (Los Angeles)
Dr. Gruber

Please give me any guidance you might have!!

Thanks,
Mandi

HI. I went to Dr. Bruce Daniels, 1 1/2 hrs north of Santa Barbara, in Santa Maria. It's much cheaper than L.A. and I researched this Dr. He's practiced 30 years with out a complaint. My nose is just great! I love it. Keep us informed. Bye for now!

If done correctly is a rhinoplasty undetectable. I am going to get one done within a year or two but I want it basically to look like I never had one done even under a bright light. Is this possible?

Well, if you don't need anything done to your nostrils, I have heard that it's so undectable that you have to tell another Dr. that you've had one. They can't even tell. If you get something done to your nostrils as I have, there are a stich near each curve of the nostril, but unless you're looking in a magnification mirror with no make up on, you can't see them, they blend in the curve. Please write back soon, I want to know if you are going for a consult.
bye for now............Jag

Stilljustagirl,

I am saving money right now for it so I probably wont get a consult for a least a year but I definetly know I am going to get one done.I dont want anything done to my nostrils or my thickness. My nose is actually nice shaped, no hook or anything but from the side it is a little long.

About 3 months or so before I have enough money I am going to do some intense research on rhino. This is something I am going make sure it is done RIGHT! This is going to be with me the rest of my life so I am not going to jump in this without knowing.

My sister lives in Santa Barbara so I will definetly look into Dr.Daniels.

I have a few questions I hope you can help me with:

How much was your procedure?

How long was your downtime or recovery?

Have you had any problems as far as breathing or pain from rhino?

Does it bother you that people would view you differently? (What I mean is people would probably tell me why did you get one done but I want it done for me and I think it would bother me that they would view me as vain or look at me different.

Oh ya last question are you happy with it?

Thanks for your help

David

David, hi. Sorry I took so long to reply. My procedure cost $2,400 I think it's a little more now, but not too much and it was $39.00 for the lab work. My insurance covered the pain meds, so that was all that cost that I had. I did do it in the Dr's office to save and not have to pay for the hospital. Very glad that I did that. As for my breathing, I actually feel as though I can breathe better since I did have a slight deviated septum before. I didn't claim that and have insurance pay however, I just saved and paid for it myself. The downtime was very very minimal. I got one week off during spring break from school. I did the surgery on a Friday. Directly afterwards I did have some nausea from blood, but was feeling quite well by the evening. The packing they put in your nose is uncomfortable but by no means painful. I was back to school in one week. I was lucky and didn't have bruising around the eyes. I have seen pictures of some people who have those racoon brusing, I did not, I guess it just depends on your body. I had to be careful with it, for a few months but there was no pain. Dr. Daniels is a wonderful Dr. and if you have a family member in Santa Barbara how great is that? You can stay with them until you get that cast off in a week. It is an hour and a half drive from S.B. to Santa Maria, but the savings makes the drive well worth it. I have heard of people going to Beverly Hills Dr's and pay tons that aren't happy, so I truly don't believe that the more you pay, the better it is. Dr. Daniels has 30 years of happy patients and I am one of them. My nose turned out just great! I never regret doing it, I wish I had done it sooner. I have consulted with Dr. Daniels for a different procedure and I can honestly say that If I were a millionaire I would still go to him. Please do check with him. His consults are about $150.00. Write back sometime as I look forward to hearing from you...bye for now.............Jag

Hi, did you find a doctor yet? Have you checked with Dr. Jonothan Sykes in Sacramento with UCDavis Medical Center? I am scheduled for multiple proceedures with him including Rhinoplasty. I was really impressed with him and his work.

No, still trying to save more. Sacramento is really far for me. When you do get your rhino done please let me know how it went. I will probably actually get rhino done at the end of 2003.

Thanks

Imorris.... Please tell me more about Dr. Sykes and why you chose him. Did you talk to any of his patients? I did a consult with him. Also went to one of his seminars. I was impressed with him but as yet have not made the commitment. I am 54. He recommended a facelift, upper and lower eyes,
rhino and fat into my lips. Way more than Dr. Bruner (Sac. Plastic Surgery Center) said I needed. I also went to his Roseville office where he works with Dr. Keiner. Are you going to his Stockton Blvd. office?
Please keep in touch and write back. Good luck!
