I recieved a call from the doctor's office this afternoon on my results from the CT Scan I had done on Friday. She said I have a liaison in my neck near my Thyroid Gland, but she didn't really go into detail what that is exactly. She also is making me an appointment with a surgeon. Does anyone know what this is? Please HELP

It very difficult to determine the cause of the lession on your neck only by CT scan. I think they will continue to biopsy, that's why she made appointment with surgeon.

I don't want to make you worry but the lession could be something benign such as growth muscle, benign tumour or cyst, it could be infection such as abscess, or sometimes cancer.

As long as they could not determine your lession, you should be calm (I do know this is difficult). However, even if your lession is cancer, it had been caught early and many mouth and neck cancer could be cured now.

Good luck

The nurse mentioned it being inflammed, but I thought they could determind cancerous tissues through having CT Scans done and she didn't mention anything cancerous. I am going to call back today and get some more information on it's seriousness.

I am only 24 and the thought of this being benign really scares me because I don't have any symptoms.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I was given some antibotics to see if this was an infection because my white blood count was elevated and it seems to shrunk the knot that is there.

If you don't have history of cancer in your family, not a smoker, and not drink alcohol too much, I think there will be very small possibility that you have cancer in your age.

btw, I think I should explain that benign tumour means the tumour is not malignant/not cancerous. Benign means not life threatening and only abnormal growth. The opposite of benign is cancerous/malignant.

Wish you healthy

Could they just leave it in my enck isntead of removing it you think, if not how would they go to such extremes and get it out if they must?

Hi Allinasmile

The decision to remove or not to remove really depends on the doctor analysis. Of course if they think your lession is not malignant they probably only will ask you to keep eyes on it and report to them if there is any abnormality. Don't worry so much until the doctor tell you about what you should do.

I only thought a lession was a tear in the tissue, how does a tear in the tissue get to be something that has bto be removed or magligant. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Twister: I don't know what the problem is about logging in, I hope it's resolved soon. Get to the doctor!!
