Have you had your stomach checked for any kind of a hiatal hernia and or GERD? I have this symptom you describe and it's caused by my hiatal hernia.. You have a cardiac nerv just behind your stomach and if you have any kind of stomach trouble your stomach could be pressing up against it etc and it causes the heart pounding, palpitations etc etc....Hope this helps...

I have a similiar problem, for months i thought i was having heart problems which in turn was freaking me out and increasing my blood pressure. Started taking prescription for acid reflux and it definately got better, however if i skip my medicine or have a really big meal I have the palpatations like you describe. It will often wake me in teh middle of the nite. What I've noticed is if I go to the bathroom and have a BM I feel better within like five-ten minutes so it must have something to do w/ my digestive system. You may want to try that, it just might be your bodies way of say..hey i gotta go...
