Hi,

I started anti-depressants today (citalopram, 1 per day). I was wondering when the best time to take it is: morning or evening? And should I take it at the same time each day? It doesn't say on the box and I forgot to ask my doctor.

Best,

I believe most dr's would suggest the morning but my dr, I take paxil, said to take it at night so I would not have to deal with the fog that paxil put me into and it would help me sleep..which it doesn't.

take care

Hey im taking Zoloft and take it early every morning to ensure i remember each dose.My doc suggested taking them each morning rather than nightime, so they are not forgotton, however a fair few ad's cause extreme tiredness (mine did at the start for 2 weeks solidly), which in that case would be better to be taken at nightime to help you sleep.
Yes do take the meds around the same time of day, to ensure they work around your system on time.
Hope this helps.
Take care of yourself and others.

Hi Dave,
I'm on Lexapro and take it at about 6 pm so if it makes me drowsy I'll benefit in the struggle with insomnia. It's better to take them at about the same time every day (give or take an hour), but an occasional slip is no big deal. I got a simple pillbox with sections for each day of the week so I can easily check whether I've taken one that day or not (yes, memory is a tricky thing). If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but not if it's too close to the next dose already. Never double up on your doses!!!
All best wishes,
Angel.
