HI. I just wanted to find out about some symptoms Ive been having for about 5+ months and recently a few are getting worse. It started out with just cramping on my lower left side and nausea. I went to the dr and after some questions/answers sessions we opted to do a laparoscopy to check for endometriosis, it came back negative. I still have the left side pain, nausea and now within the past month I have lost about 10lbs(not that im complaining), extremely tired, bloated and weird bowel habits now. Constipated one week and diarrhea the next. Could it be ovarian cancer (or something else) even though I had a laparoscopy and nothing showed up? The worst thing is the fatigue, I sleep for a good 8 hours most nights and I still end up falling asleep at my desk, I just cant get enough sleep. Any help would be great. Take care and god bless!

Dear Letslk,
I am having many of the same symptoms as you, but have to wait eight more days to see my Dr. The only difference I have, is that I am now bleeding. It's not a period, because I'm on the progesterone only pill, and they keep you from having periods. It takes everything to just get around and take a shower. I get so exhausted that I have to take naps, and that is scary because I'm a stay at home mom of 4 little ones. I can't understand why I'm so tired. The information I have found on the internet is not all that helpful...and the doctor's nurse basically had an attitude like, "Don't worry about it." My ovary and fallopian tube on the left side are swollen and there is a hard, painful lump of some sort in that area. I am anxious to hear what symtoms other people with ovarian cancer face. Hang in there!

Hi again. I went to the dr last Friday (7/1/05) and he ran some tests including the CA125. I wont know the results of everything until the 8th, which is maddening. He is checking my thyroid and a few other things too. They are scheduling me for a CT scan too and then if all these tests come back "normal" then he wants to do a colonoscopy. I have been so tired lately its really hard to get anything done, yesterday I left work an hour early and slept in my van! The pain is mainly on my left side, back and the front of my leg, I dont know if that means anything but I did mention it to my dr. The only good thing to come out of this so far is that I have lost about 13lbs. I have the same "lump", it feels really hard and hurts like h**** to push on it. And I have also been kinda of spotting in between periods. My best to you and I hope you find out whats wrong soon. Thank you for replying, its nice to know Im not the only one out there.
Take care,
Angie

I have had 5 colonoscopies. A CTscan isn't really going to determine if there is a growth, in your colon. I'd push for the colonoscopy, to make sure that area of your body is okay, especially since you've been losing weight rapidly, a major symptom of a colon problem.

Dear Letstlk,
I too have many of the same problems that you do. I am also on the progesterone pill continually but I have break thru bleeding often. Sometimes for a whole week. I would definitely keep bugging the doctors to get an answer. It sounds as though something isn't right. Sometimes though, about the endometriosis, they don't catch adenomyosis which is hard to see. It's endo that grows within the uterine wall. Did they check you for that too? Sometimes the only way to detect it is by a hysterectomy or if you are in a later stage of it.

I think the CT scan would be for pelvic and stomach. If nothing shows there then it would be reasonable to do the colonoscopy as maybe it is the colon. But it could show a cyst or clot or thickening of stomach lining. It can show a lot and also it can miss a lot but with the bowel problems probably you should have the colonscopy also.
