This is my first post.

About two weeks ago, I started noticing that my jaw on the left side hurts when I bite down. The joint area is sore, seems to be from the muscles but not sure. It seems to come and go and sometimes there is a very slight throbbing the extends up to my temple.

My husband thinks that I should go to the doctor. I think dentist. Where should I start?

Two weeks ago I had to discontinue taking my glucosamine supplement because we are both unemployed. Could there be a connection here?

Thank you!

It is medical, but a lot of time dentists treat it with splints. A pain managment doctor would be a good place to start if you have muscle spasm.

I would suggest either a dentist or an oral surgeon.

It is a medical issue, from my perspective. It causes a lot more medical problems than..well....headaches, vision problems, muscular aches..etc.

Hope this helps

Thank you,

I went to my doctor this morning. She told me to go to my dentist so that he could fit me with a mouth guard. She gave me some Darvocet for pain. I am unable to take NSAIDS. If the mouth guard is ineffective, then she would have to put me on Prednisone.

She thinks that this is caused by stress, too. My husband and I are both unemployed. I recently discontinued taking my Glucosamine supplement in an effort to cut back our monthly expenses. Is there some kind of connection here?
