Sorry if I've asked this before, but I can't really remember. I have recently been put on Prenisone for my dizziness and I heard it has some pretty ugly side affects. Is it worth it, have any of you tried it who helped with the dizziness. Dizziness is my only symptom. Thanks~

Did they say there was any inflammation? Prednisone is a steriod, and as far as I know it is used to reduce inflammation. Dizziness is really my only symptom as well. Let me know if the prednisone does help. good luck!

prednizone gives you a round face, not a good side effect and will only work if there is inflamation of the ear nerve. it did not work for me, just makes you gain weight and gives you moon face. :(

My understanding is that Prednisone has some pretty debilitating long term effects, the wife of a friend of mine was on it long term and she is a mess right now. I think for short term this drug can be effective, don't stay on it too long!!

I believe prednisone caused my whole problem. I was put on it for 10 days after an allergic reaction to an antibiotic back in December. It weakened my immune system so badly. One day after I stopped taking it I ended up with a severe ear infection that I was told cleared up but I caught another virus 2 weeks later and all hell broke loose. This ear thing is what I'm left with.

A friend of mine back in May had some sort of allergic reaction (perhaps from weeding her garden) and they put her on prednisone because it was infected and she had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. Her adrenal gland shut down because she wasn't weened off it properly.

I don't want to scare you but oral steriod can be very dangerous. Joy is right too; they are typically used for inflammation not dizziness. Perhaps the doctor thinks there is some inflammation that is causing your dizziness.

yes it does give you lot's of side effect. I went to emergency for having cronic cough. Doctor gave me 4 dose of 50mg prednisone four days. Also antibiotic/cough syrup(with codine in it). with in two days I had a moon face,chest started to sagging down,thin skin knee pain and hair loss. strech marks,fat hip,thick skin,chin hair growth.....etc. The worst part was gaining weight and higher appetite. it totally put me into low self steem. My body jigle when I walk. I am 27 yrs old. My weight was only 120. After this medicine 136,within month and 1/2. I need help. If someone can tell me how can I get back to the body I used to have. espcially my chest.
