Has anyone here gone to Dr. Harry Springer in Wilmette? I'm new to this internet thing and i've been using it to reserach different surgeons in and around chicago and I'm leaning toward him. He's been board certified for a long time and that's important to me.

I'm really close to setting an appointment, but I'm hoping to find a past patient to get a direct impression of him.

help!

Hi Cindy,
I haven't used Dr Springer myself but I was in contact with his office a while back. I was planning on going to him until I got in contact with a couple of his patients that used him for breast augmuntation. They did not have much positive things to say about him. He had made mistakes in placement of their implants and when they wanted him to fix his mistakes he was a real jerk about it and wanted to charge them as much to fix it as they paid originally. Most surgeons takes care of these sort of things for free or for a drasrically reduced fee.

If you're planning on traveling to Chicago for your procedure there are many good surgeons you can use. But I would not recomend Dr Springer. I know he's good at marketing himself but that does not mean that he's a good surgeon. I believe that if he was a good and sincere surgeon he wouldn't have to market himself as agressively as he does.
I live in Chicago and I had a BA earlier this year. I have many names of doctors both here and in California that I can give you depending on the procedure you are having.
If you want to feel free to e-mail me if there is anything else you want to know.

Thanks you for the replies!

dunde_estah, I'm looking for breast augmentation. I'm a 34B and I'm looking to become a full C.

Momo, how did you get the names of his past patients? Did Dr. Springer give you their names? I'd love to speak with them - his staff seem so nice and speak so highly of him - he's on a number of different medical boards - are you sure it's the same Harry Springer?

You can email me off the board at [removed].com if you still have their names. i'd really appreciate it. I'm so close to using him and i'd like to get their first hand experience.

thanks!

cindy

Of course his staff speaks highly of him; that is part of what they get paid to do. Generaly a surgeon will not reveal the names of any of his other patients, although there are ways you can find out. Also just because he is a member of something, does not mean he is a good surgeon. The prior poster knew exactly what she was talking about. Please listen to her!

Thanks for all the advice, but why are you piling up on Dr. Springer? My mom (who's paying for half of the surgery-woohoo!) and I have given him a very lengthy and thorough check of his background (which I have to thank you for, since the warnings on this board prompted us to check his history with the Chicago Medical Board) and he's not only clean, but one of the most respected surgeons in Chicago!

I really do appreciate the warnings, but why such venom towards this one surgeon? My mom (who should be a professional interrogator for the mafia!) gave him, and his staff the third degree, they gave us names of past patients to call and our fear was caused by this one board! Every other board I've been to has nothing but kind words for the man. If your concern is genuine, can you lead me to the unhappy patients? BELIEVE ME, we'd love to hear them out!

I'm scheduled to fly to Chicago and stay with my mom for three weeks and have my consult the 15th, followed by the surgery the next day! I'm so excited that I'm dizzy! If it goes well, my mom is thinking about having it done as well - is that normal or is that kind of odd? She's still pretty young, so it should look good on her!

Has anyone here used the high profile implants? I'm a 34B and looking to become a full C, but my girls ride a little low on my torso, so I'm looking for ideas to compensate. Someone told me that overfilling the implants might help. any suggestions?

Cindy; I notice you live in LA; why are you going to Chicago for your surgery? There are many good plastic surgeons in your area. It would be better to have your surgery done close to where you live in case of any problems that might arise in the future.
Please don't get upset with the replies; remember that you did ask for them!

I live in Los Angeles (if you call that living!) but I come from Chicago. My mom is pitching in half the cost of the surgery if I have it done in Chicago- it's an excuse to have me around for several weeks, plus she's seriously considering having it done herself. Pretty enticing reasons in my book!

I do appreciate the feedback, 1goodgirl, but it's not backed up with any evidence. As I said, I'm actually happy that momo was so full of warning, since it prodded my mother and I to do a fuller background check on Dr. Springer than we might have done otherwise, and what we found only convinced us that he is the right Doctor for the both of us.

Again, many thanks for the heads-up and I'll be sure to give everyone a blow-by-blow account of the experience!

But for now, I really need some feedback on high profile implants and overfilling implants. I want to be as prepared when I see him as possible!

There are several good books re: cosmetic surgery; see your local bookstore for them. Make a list of questions to take to the doctor with you. I have never heard of "high profile" implants. What are they? (I'm not saying they don't exist, I'm just saying that I have never heard of them.)

Hi Iooooca!

It's been almost four months since I got my "gurls" and I couldn't be happier. My mom and I did TONS of research before we went to him and once my surgery was done, my mom scheduled a BA for herself!

I got high profiles and they hurt the first two weeks, but then they mellowed - I did have to wear a strap for a few weeks to get them into the right positioning, tho.

This was the best thing I ever did for myself and now that my mom is post-op for 1 1/2 months, she agrees. Dr. Springer is a DOLL and his staff are all very sweet and helpful.

My mom and I are BIG fans - couldn't say enough good things about him.

Good luck! And welcome to Boobieland!!!
