View Full Version : Bleeding during sex and BMs

Sorry to bother you ladies with this, but I am starting to get concerned.
I am already scheduled to have a colonscopy and endoscopy for rectal bleeding. But now I'm having unusual vaginal bleeding as well.
Background: I had a freeze procedure done before I had my 2 kids in july 94 after a bad pap and biopsy showing dysplasia. Then in march 95, had a D&C and cervical scrapping cause it was back. Right after that got pg with my son and then 2 years later my daughter. Every year my pap has been ok. I have had lots of spotting before my period every month. Last fall missed 2, but thought it was due to thyroid medicine I had started. Now, in the last month I had noticed some rectal bleeding (I do not have anal sex either), so the GI is planning on scoping me in 1.5 weeks. Now it's been a week since I finished my period and the last 2 times I had intercouse with hubby, I have spotted some (not a whole lot). This afternoon with my BM, I noticed blood in the water and thought it would be from my GI issues, but upon wiping noticed this is actually NOT coming from there, but from the front. My hubby had a vasectomy, so I know it's not a pg-related thing.
My yearly GYN appt isn't scheduled for another 6 months (Feb).
Should I be concerned?

Firstly i would like to say i know how scary these things are and i wish i could say do not worry....but i know that often does not help. However it is good that you have gone ahead and are seeking help from your doctor...one bit of advice is between now and the visit 2 ur docs is to write down all the questions you want to ask..........so everything is clear in your mind on the day of your visit, and do not leave the consultation room until all your answers have been responded to.

Also this may ease your mind a little, the two symptoms, rectal and vaginal bleeding could be totally unconected.... I have just read on a site recently that many women suffer from vaginal bleeding/spotting 10 - 14 days after the end of their period. This is due to high surges of oestregen levels which leads to a thickening of the liningof the womb...during ovulation, which then causes some of the lining to break away.

As far as the bleeding from your rectum i am sure if you have no other symptoms then it is nothing to worry about.....if the blood is bright then it is most probably piles or a small tear...which can be caused by stress and worry. If the blood is darker then it could be another matter but make sure you note down when it happens and how often.

Anyway I wish i could be more help...but good luck and lets hope everthing is going to be ok!

Take care
emma

Thanks for taking the time to respond and your advice.
As for me - it has turned into a full period - so that puts it 14 days from the start of one to the next.
Saw the GYN yesterday and during her exam she touched something that made me come off the table and it has been killing me ever since. And the bleeding is heavier. She said we would have to talk about surgery, but wanted me to get my GI issues settled first.
Now after calling the nurseline, she has called back and wants me back in for an ultrasound Monday.
What can they touch that would hurt during the exam (I've never hurt before) and would continue to hurt afterwards - let alone cause you to bleed every 2 weeks?
THANKS for any advice.
