Not sure if I'm writing this in the right forum, but I searched and this is where the most jaw topics were. I don't know if I have TJM. I don't have pain but I do have slight trouble breathing. (I am a mouth breather) I am mainly unhappy with my smile. I have a gummy smile and an overbite. When I'm relaxing my face my mouth just hangs open. I had braces so my teeth are fine. I guess my question is, has anyone had jaw surgery for these reasons? I am planning on scheduling a consultation because I am just so unhappy.

Hi newbee. my names judy and im from the uk. I too am really unhappy with the way my jaw is, its lopsided and swings to the side when i open it. I have TMJ and im waiting to have double custom made jaw replacements put in. The drs say that the op will not straighten my face (even though it was straight before i had tmj) and i am upset that i have to stay like this all my life. I hate going out, I used to love it ) I have no confidence and it has spoiled the last 15 years of my life. I know how you feel and different people will tell you different things that you should do, I dont know what id do in your situation but im sure there are a lot of people like us out there and its nice to know your not alone.Chat anytime take care Judy.
