a good friend of mine has been gradually losing her sense of smell these past couple of months and now it is almost completely gone. however, she doesn't have a stuffy nose or anything. she has alos been complaining of a metallic taste in her mouth. any idea what may be wrong with her? thanks!

Look up Olfactory Fatigue - a condition in which a person's nose, after exposure to certain odors, is no longer able to detect the odor. Is she in a profession where she is exposed to chemicals or toxins. This is a common condition with people who work with sewage and the opposite side waterworks ie. chlorine. Not sure about the metallic taste - has her water been tested? :)

My brother lost smell due to a brain tumor. I'd see a neurologist ASAP.
