but i'm just finally curious enough to ask. I have a discharge pretty much all through the month, I know this is normal, but is it normal for it to dry yellow? it stains most of my underwear, and I know pantyliners would help with this, but I'm just curious. I also think it kinda smells, but i don't know. some help would be appreciated, thanks.

PS I asked the FNP when i went in and she (well she wouldn't really listen to all of my questions) cut me off and said it's normal for women to have discharge.

Its normal to have discharge but i dont think its normal to have it all through out the month non stop- Unless this is something you've had for a very very long time.

The fact that it smells and that its yellow could indicate that you have an infection, i say see a different doctor just to be sure. :p

It's normal (and expected) to have some sort of discharge all month long. This discharge varies in consistency and amount.

As far as the "drying yellow," I experience that as well. My discharge will be completely clear or cloudy white, but will dry a slightly tinged yellow color. And I know that I don't have in infection. I think it's normal.

BCP would make your CM yellow and thick.

But it can occur when you're not on BCP - at least for me it does.

I think everybody experiences this... the amount and color probably varies.
You have to have discharge all month, that's how the body cleans itself.
Mine varies in color... sometimes it's yellow, but at the end of the month (right before my period) it turns more clear/white, and there's more of it.
I'm not sure whether BCP affect that or not. I haven't really noticed a big difference since I've started them.
I have read though that BCP help produce more natural lubrication. I don't know whether that's all the time or not.

You don't say how old you are, but I had the same problem the whole time I was a teenager; I started my periods at 12 and for years I had large amounts of white or yellow discharge. But it gradually eased off and now I only have a little. So take comfort in the thought that it might go away! :)

i also get it all month too it sucks! sarakellieye, i know what mean that it can be embarrassing i am with my boyfriend..he thinks there is something wrong with me, guys can be so nonunderstanding sometimes, they have a penis, with nothin to worry about. i hate wearing pantiliners all the time. my doctor told me all women have discharge but all vary in amount, some not noticable and some very noticeable(like us). normal discharge will dry yellow. someone once recommended to use a baking soda douche that you make yourself with water, to help stop producing so much discharge. i tried and didn't work maybe it would work for someone else. and the odor part may be a sign of infection or bacteria, only when it's strong. some women tend to have a slight fishy odor a week or before their period or slight yeast smell, like beer or bread. my doctor also told me that sometimes if you eat alot of protein or other foods that i can't remember right now, the odor is stronger.

Wow, sounds very much like my cycle. I'm still in my teens, and as far as I can remember, I get the yellowish dryish discharge the week before my period.. I guess it's normal. =)
