hi all,

i my friend wants me to give her a referral to my dermatolagist so that she can get botox done. i only see my derm for minor acne (pretty much i don't have acne....my pores just get clogged up every now and then) and mainly for my sensitive skin issues (every so often i get allergig reactions...even to stuff i've used for years will suddenly become too harsh for me)

anyhow, i feel uncomfortable givng her my doc's name so that she can have botox injections. we are both research scientists, so we know what botulism is.

reasons why i don't want to give her my doc's name:
1) she is extremely young - only 24 years old.
2) i think she's being obsessive-compulsive about her "wrinkles" on her forehead. she is a very beautiful girl, and it's only natural to get a little wrinkling when you have facial expressions - i mean, if it remained smooth all the time, that would just look so plastic to me. forgive me, but i do think for those with extreme wrinkles that this does deliver results for them. another reason why i think she's obsessive-compulsive-she thinks she has freckles....believe me, if she has them, you gotta be nose to nose with her and have a magnifying glass to see them.
3) i think she could try other methods.....it's like she wants to jump the gun and try botox instead of other (possibly less toxic) methods such as facials, microdermbrasions (although i know nothing about this either but i think it's better than injecting toxin into the body)

does anyone out there have any advice that i can pass on to her? i'm only older than her by two years, so i don't feel like she'll really take my words to heart. i don't want to see her get "addicted" to botox injections. i hate to see her beautiful face look "plastic" by the time she's 35 or 40 years old. also, any postive or negative stories on botox injections would be great (please give me your age or age range so that i can have an idea of who may be responding with their stories. i hate to have a 50 year old tell me a postive story while it doesn't quite match up to the possibly of a 24 year old getting it done. but the postive story would be great, either from someone young or older. thank you SO MUCH for any words you can input.

Hi, my opinion won't help too much because I'll be 40 in a few months, but I did recently have Botox for the first time. I have huge, heavy, deep wrinkles on my forehead. Looking back at high school pictures I realize I have had them since my freshman year. They didn't start bothering me until someone put their hand on my forehead to try to "press" them out. I researched and thought about Botox for 2 years. I finally had it done with my husband in the room for moral support. 2 weeks later I had a little more put in. I still have deep lines, even surgery won't take them away. No one noticed that I had it done and I still have to wear bangs. I am glad I got it done, but at $400 a time, I probably won't do it again. There are sites that show before and after pics of people who have had it done, ask your friend to check them out. I chickened out 3 time before I actually had it done. Hope some of this is helpful. Good luck!
