I'm 32 years old and found out today I have osteoarthritis. My knee has been swelled up and hurting for 2 weeks. My neck has bothered me for a month. My back hurts a lot. The worst thing thats happened is my left wrist got so bad I couldn't use my hand at all for about 4 days. It's been 10 days now and I can use it now, it just hurts a lot to do it. The doctor wrote me a prescription for Diclofenac. He said I would be feeling better in a couple of days. A friend of mine takes Celebrex. Would taht better than what I have now? Is there any way to completely get over this stuff? Any info would be great.

I was diagnosed with OA at 38, I questioned the diagnoses also, especially since I wasn't in the Rheumatologists office very long and had no x-rays.
I tried celebrex for a while, but it didnt help me as much as diclofenac. Diclofenac worked really well but had to change recently to naprasyn, as the other was effecting my stomache

How did Diclofenac affect your stomach? I've been taking this stuff now for 4 days and my legs have never felt better. All the pain is gone in my legs and knees. My neck feels 100% better also. But, for the past 2 days I've had Diarrhea. It's not getting much better either. This sucks, because I either Hurt or I take the pills and run to the bathroom all the time. Is that what happened to you?

I did not have diarrhea, but was having upper stomach(chest pain),thought I was having a heart attack. The doc gave me stomach meds and changed me to athrotec(same as diclofenac, but coated)but for some reason was not working.
So.....now I am on naprasyn, it was working really well until last weekend.I must being going though some sort of "flare",cause I'm a hurting bad again.
I would be careful if the diarrhea continues, that could be an indication of a stomach bleed.

Hey Guys, I'm 46 and have OS and my sister has it so bad they have fused almost her whole spine. I took vioxx until they took it off the market and I swear by that stuff even if I DID have a heart attack a year ago! lol
But really, I would watch that Nyprason that stuff will open up your stomach big time. Since all this started many years ago I've been to orthapedic surgens, nurologists and now a pain clinic where they can give me periodic knee and back injections as well as some strong pain medication I feel almost normal now. Good luck with your struggle.
