Hey Everyone, for about 5 months now I have been having problems with my throat. It's really bugging me. Anyway, about a month ago I did go to the doctors and he put me on antibiotics for 10 days, because he said I had a bit of tonsilitis. So, I completed the course of antibiotics but they didn't really do anyway. I know I probably should of gone back but I worry about things way too easily and it took me all my time to go last month.
The problem first started in January when I started getting pains in my throat. The thing is, it's nothing like a normal sore throat, I know a normal sore throat hurts when you swallow and stuff, but this is like pains - maybe even muscle pains in my throat, as it sometimes hurts when I tense my neck muscles. That was mainly the only symptom I had until around March, when I started getting occasional pains in my ears. These only last for a few seconds, and dont hurt very much, but I do notice them. I also noticed that I started getting white dots on my tonsils, which is why the doctor probably said that I had tonsilitis.
Anyway, fast forward to now and I get heartburn, but only occasionally, about once a week maybe. But I have also started to gag for no reason, it just comes out of nowhere. I just wanted to know if anyone has had any similar symptoms and what you were diagnosed with.
I have made an appointment to go back to the doctors, but they are really busy and my appointment is not until next Wednesday.
I worry about things alot (believe me, I wish I didn't) and have recently started panicking and freaking out thinking that I may have throat cancer. I am 19 (20 this month)and started smoking when I was 15. I suppose the only good news to come out of this is that I havent smoked for just over 2 weeks now, and I know now that I won't start smoking again.
Anyone got any advice?
Thanks in Advance.

Good for you Wayne!! :bouncing:
Stopping smoking is no small feat! I just wanted to congratulate you on that--it's not at all easy--but you did it anyway. Let's hope this is not cancer--just a bad case of tonsilitis. You seem a little young for it-but it's good you're getting it checked--and it woke you up to stop smoking!!
You came to the right place for advice---there are some really great ppl here w/good info!! Unfortunately I don't have alot of info on what this could be other than the obvious(white spots are tonsilitis) but as for the ear and throat pains-Barbie Blue Eyes or Lia or Bill may know...help Wayne out!! He needs info.
Congrats again--and don't start back--ESPECIALLY if you get a clean bill of health over this!! You have your whole life ahead of you. :)
