I have always had a lot of trouble concentrating, especially when it comes to school work. I am now in college, and I am really struggling to keep up with the classes, when I have such a deficit.
My doctor recently told me that I had ADHD. I am very, very talkative, and have a lot of trouble listening and remembering things. She said that she couldn't believe I made it through high school, because of the severity of my lack of concentration. I am currently on Lexapro for social anxiety and depression. I really do not want to go on any more meds. I would like to learn how to better concentrate so I can learn in my classes and graduate college.
I fear that if I can't catch up in school, I may fail out, and then I won't have a degree.....which makes getting a job I like much more difficult.
Does anyone know any exercises to help concentration levels?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Sorry, I don't know of any exercises that would help- but from one college student to another, I would advise simply trying the adhd meds. Who knows, they might help! Good thing is, you usually know pretty soon in the treatment if it helps or not. I would listen to your doctor and see what meds they want to try. It helped me alot! Good luck

There is a product which I have only read about. It contains nutritional supplements only. It was banned in Canada for some reason. It is called EMpowerplus. I don't know anything about this product except what I read on the internet. This might be something to try on your own. However, I use orthomolecular medicine for mulitple deficiencies that I have. I know there is a type - one type that is usually the hyperactive type in orthomolecular that you might match. The problem, however, is that I can't recommend that you try using all the nutritional supplements for this type withOUT the help of a professional. But, I think that this product empowerplus may be using the same nutritional supplements that ortho uses but the doses may be lower. I think that this product might have some instructions on how to increase the dosage with time.
Orthomolecular is seriously high doses of nutritional supplements which must be done under the care of a professional because the main issue is that such high doses could cause some problems with your liver. But orthomocecular has helped me tremedously with my depression, anger problems, anxiety and panic attacks and some other health things. Ortho is best know for treating schizophrenia with mainly nutritional supplements. But now everyone who needs ortho has schizophrenia.

I'm in college as well and I don't take any meds yet. I also make myself sit in the front of row of every class and I force myself to ask questions when I don't understand something. Although half of them never come out right!! LOL! I always try to review the chapter we will be working on in the next class the night before. Some times writing notes as the teacher is talking helps me from daydreaming. It can be really hard when you get stuck with a
boring professor so I usually stick to the ones I know or have heard of that make their classes more interesting and hands on. Sitting in that stupid desk is what drives me crazy. I just can't get comfortable. Or how about those people who eat during class and open the wrappers really slow thinking it makes less noise and then there are the coffee slurpers too. Things like that really distract me.
