Okay, I have a question...if my husband and I are TTC...when is the best time to try if I'm alway really late...this is my normal cycle...I'm always 40 days sometimes I can be 50 days...this is the way I've been since I've first got my period, it's my normal cycle. My husband and I thought it might be easier to just try every day and have fun with it and eventually we'll hit the right day.

Maybe you should get a OPK or fertility monitor to help you pinpoint a bit. Are you charting? That could help also.

I was thinking that too. I'm making a chart of when we're trying and when I get my period ect. My husband says lets just have fun and do it all the time LOL! I'm gonna get a test too, so that'll make it a little easier! Thanks :)

:) There are a number of things you could do to help you pin point when you are ovulating. First you can chart your bbt, cm and cp. You could also invest in an ovulation microscope and in OPK. With the bbt, OPK and the microscope there are instructions that come with them that will explain exactly what you're looking for. As far as cm goes your looking for the ewcm which is sperm friendly...cp is something a lot of the ladies on this board have discussed and I think do but I can't remember for certain what exactly you're looking for so maybe someone else can help you out there or I know you can research it on the web. Any how I hope this helps get you started...BABY DUST TO YOU***!

You definately need to be watching for signals of O if your cycles are that long and bd'ing every day might not be the best of ideas as it can affect sperm count and viability...especially if your partner has any issues with this.
Temps are easy to do and you don't need to buy a basil body thermometer to do them...a regular digital is fine. Take your temp before getting out of bed in the morning. There are lots of sights on how best to do it and what to look for.
Same goes for cm...just watch the tp and look for anything 'wetter' than normal...especially if it is sticky and looks like egg whites. This is the best time to bd.
Good luck to you!!!

Silly question...what does my temp have to be?

Everybody is different, when you buy the bbt thermometer it gives you an example...basically what you'll be looking for is a dip in temperature with a rise following it (the package will give you a graph so you can chart it but I like to do mine on the computer (Xcel works great). You can probably see examples online if you already have a digital thermometer and don't want to get the basal body thermometer.

Just an FYI...not everyone experiences the dip in temp before the rise ...the dip usually signifies that O is going to happen that day (or so) but for some people it just doesn't happen and they just get the rise.
Your temp is only a good method of predicting O after you've done it for awhile as once the rise has occured so has ovulation and it's too late to bd effectively then. Your best bet is to combine this with watching your cm. When cm is wet, creamy or slippery it indicates you are at your most fertile time. Then watch for the rise in temp and keep taking it. If the temp stays up for 18 days then that usually means you are pregnant.
Good luck.

50 days is really out of the range of normal. Even if you've always had it that way.
If it is normal, it means you've got less cycles in a year to get PG.
You might want to try sympto thermal charting and the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM).
A fertility monitor is really only useful for regular cyclers, from what I understand.
You should look for a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It's awesome in describing your cycle and how to recognize your fertile fluid. You'll learn what's normal and not. Wish I had it when I started charting.
It's not time consuming. If you chart and find casual TTC isn't working, you'll have a record to take to the DRs if you want to.
Good luck!
