Will my cover line be different every month? The O's are the day's I ovulated and the P's are the days of my period. TIA!

If your ovulating temp was 97.7 and 97.5...the general rule of thumb is to count back 10 days (before ovulation) and your coverline will be one tenth of a degree higher than your highest "low" temperature. For example, for your temperatures, the highest low before ovulation was 97.5, if this is the highest throughout the whole ten days (don't count the days you're on you're period) then your coverline would be 97.6.

Hope this helps....and good luck!

Yes, your coverline will be different every month, it doesn't have to be, but it's ok if it is.

Thanks Heidi...that make perfect sense! I really appreciate it!

Your coverline changes every cycle and maybe even every day. It's always drawn .1 degree over the highest of your previous 6 temps. I think it's .5 for C temping. So if your highest is 97.4, then the CL is 97.5 The next day, if you cl is 97.5 then your CL will go up to 97.6

I think your O date last cycle was cd 18, it's the day before the rise. Or 15 with a fall back on CD 17.

CL is just there as a visual cue, so you know when you shift.

ok - that confuses me. I read "Taking Charge of your Fertility" and it said you have ONE coverline a month...not one every other day. That doesn't make sense to me. Having more than one coverline a month would make a very confusing chart...don't you think?

I know I'm new to this stuff...maybe I'm wrong?

Well, you do have one coverline if you chart on paper. You don't draw it until you see a shift. But you know where it is, based on the highest of your previous temps.

If you chart on the PC or online, it's one CL, but it will change given the highest of your previous 6 temps. It's .1 degree over the previous 6 temps (.5 for C temps) It's still one coverline, it just shifts up or down given your previous temps. If you've got 97.5, 97.4, 97.3, 97.4, 97.2, 97.3, your CL will be 97.6 because the highest of the 6 temps is 97.5 If the next day, your temp stays lower, at 97.4, the 97.5 is knocked out of the previous 6 temps and your CL will go down to 97.5. If the temp goes up to 97.6, then your CL will bump up to 97.7 Does that help?

On paper you draw the CL when you see the thermal shift of at least .2 degrees F. It's often .4 degrees shift though.

The CL is just a visual cue to help you look for the shift.

Does that make more sense?

I posted on this board a couple of days ago my chart's numbers w/ a CL...I hope I did it right.

Take Care

I'm sorry if I confused you.
