My Doctor diagnosed me with Severe Vertigo. I took a nap the other day and woke up with the world spinning, The urge to vomit very intense, Hot and weak, rubber arms and legs, and can't walk for the life of me. Its hampering my work. The doc sent me home and told me theres nothing I can do for it other than to wait it out. She told me to take Meclizine or Antivert to ease the symptoms, but I'll swear they are only getting worse.
Anyone had this? Know what helps?
This sucks.

Sounds like you are in the beginning stages of labyrinthitis, or perhaps BPPV. Has the actual spinning (vertigo) stopped? Does it come and go?
If you have labs you will need to lay low for a while until the inflammation goes, probably viral. Do you have a cold or other infection right now?
Hope you are feeling better, keep us posted.

No cold or infections at all... I am perfectly healthy, I just took a nap and woke up with my world spinning in a whole new direction..And all the symptoms are constant.

hi there
I have severe BPPV, more commonly known as vertigo. It has to do with some debris in the inner ear which controls the 'balance' mechanisms and your brain. The reason for the dizziness is that the debris is not settling correctly in the inner ear (for me, it is usually the right side---if I turn my head the wrong way to the right, or too far back and over to the right, it goes to town) and the debris hits the very fine hairs, telling your brain that you are in certain areas in space when you are not.
I was seeing an ENT at the time when the first round of this dizziness hit. It was a real subtle, occasional thing. Over time, it has become to where I know moving certain ways will have me on the floor---passed out and/or vomitting. :dizzy:
I saw a vestibular therapist (I may had spelled that wrong) for treatment---consist of manipulating the debris to go back down into some spot in the inner ear. Also, had to wear a lovely neck brace for two days, no lying flat (got a recliner?) and increase calcium (read between them lines---ICE CREAM!!) to assist the crystals (that is that debris) to stick where they need to. I can do most of these manipulations myself and own three neck braces (one at the office, one in the car and one at home) for when I knock that thing out of place.
do a google search for BPPV, or even just vertigo. I don't remember the name of the manipulation correctly, but it has something to do with dixon.
hope this helped. sorry it is long---
