dizzy2 07-07-2005, 09:07 AM Just wanted to check in with any of you that live in the London area to see if you are okay. I just heard about what happened and was worried when I heard that there were some deaths and lots of injuries. What a scary thing to happen! I remember how it was when we had the attack in NY. My thoughts go out to all of you, take care and be safe. I will check in later, gotta go to work. Dizzy free wishes to all!! :D
Hugs,
Dizzy2
Howie2 07-07-2005, 09:20 AM My thought as well. I am from NY and remember that like it was yesterday.
Dizzy:
You are from NY... Do you know any good doctors or specialist in NYC. I have seen a couple and was diagnosed with a Vestibular Disorder. Very Vague. If you knew of anyone else I would certainly entertain.
Howie
dizzy2 07-07-2005, 10:06 AM Howie: no, I am not from NY. I am from San Diego. I can't even imagine what is was like to be there when the attacks happened!! I was on a different coast and felt so afraid. Sorry that I don't know of any doctors in that area, but I know we have some people from that area that could point you in the right direction, I'm sure. Firechick is one of them. I hope you find somebody to help, this is not a fun illness. I have had it for about 8 months now myself. Feeling better than at first and at about 80-90% most of the time. Like all of us, I have good days and bad. Have a good day.
Dizzy2
Howie2 07-07-2005, 10:17 AM Dizzy:
Thank You, I have found a doctor but am looking into more specifics as I was diagnosed with a Vestibular Disorder and Dysfunction but nothing specific. I am better than when it first started as well. But I often get frustrated. I think I put to much pressure on myself to get better. I would say I am like 80% on 5 days a week with the other two not great. Only really annoying symptom left is nausea. The others are managable. I have had this condition for 18 months but the first 11 I went undiagnosed with anxiety only. I guess since my recovery and everything is similiar to so many I should stop worrying this is something else. I still often do though.
Are you doing anything for your condition like VRT,CBT or anything else.
What is your diagnosis?
firechick 07-07-2005, 10:22 AM Sorry
I am in Canada!
Am working tonight so it will be a funny sort of atmosphere after the attacks. Everyone goes on high alert and people begin to panic. Our city will be questioning if we are prepared should this happen here...why are we always so reactive and not proactive?
ASLme 07-07-2005, 01:10 PM What a terrible thing to wake up to! I am also thinking of and praying for all of you in London.
gloria2936 07-07-2005, 03:02 PM My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!

Hi,
I'm fine, thanks for your concern. I think Dogologist is in Wales, so is hopefully fine too. We've known for ages an attack could happen in London, but it's still a shock when it does. I keep thinking of all the people whose lives have been taken or have been affected in one way or another. A very sad day indeed.
best,
hbep
groovyk 07-07-2005, 05:00 PM hey everyone!
I hope you are all ok. I live in London.
As crazylabyrinth said..the hospital a lot of us go to for the dizziness was a few minutes walk from one of the explosions. I usually go on that particular route when I have an appointment. Also..my brother travel on the underground at around that time and he left for work a bit earlier this morning...if he had travelled at his normal time he would have been caught in the middle of it all.
Its been a very sad and scary day in London. I feel very upset and angry. I hope that everyone is alright and those they haven't been by the board yet..please let us know you're ok.
Thanks for everyone's concern and prayers.
We stand strong!!!!
dizzy2 07-08-2005, 01:11 AM Firechick, I am sorry. For some reason, I thought you were in NY. My apologies. Howie: I have had this for 8 months and was also told it was anxiety at first, and my heart and allergies, etc...you know the drill!! Finally seeing a vestibular specialist and he says labyrinthitis and BPPV most likely.
Only got a diagnosis maybe 3 months ago!! I am doing some VRT, like running on my treadmill while also focusing on different pictures, balancing on one leg with eyes closed. Doing them on my own. Have improved, but like you not 100%, yet. Stress makes me worse, like everyone else!! Just so glad to have found this board, it saved my sanity in those first months!! :p

dizzy_dave 07-08-2005, 09:31 AM Hi there,
I'm from London, yesterday was truly a terrifying day for everyone, but there was such strength shown as well. One day after getting the Olympic nomination, suddenly that seemed like a very long time ago yesterday...
Thanks for your concern. All my family and friends are fine - but I know people who were in central London who saw and experienced some harrowing events.
Love
Dave
Wowwwweeee 07-08-2005, 10:15 AM Glad to hear you guys are alright. Been thinking about you.
CL, I jumped on here and saw that you are fine. (relief).
Tragedies like this touch everyone, whether they are there or not. I live in New York, and well remember 9-11. I had co-workers who were RIGHTTHERE one of which saw people jump/fall to their death. You never recover fully from it, no matter how near or far you are. The world can be such a horrible, horrible place sometimes.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone. xo
scant5 07-08-2005, 12:59 PM My thoughts and prayers to everyone in London. What a sad day.

Hugs to all xxx
joyb77 07-08-2005, 08:25 PM I'm so sorry to all who have to deal with this. It is so sad and upsetting that there are people out there who are capable of such things. I live in San Francisco, and I remember crying for at least four months after 9-11. I'm young so I think that that was the biggest defining and scary moment of my generation. Throught that trajedy, I found myself for the first time feeling like I am united with my country. My heart goes out to anyone affected by this, and I hope you are all okay.
Crazylabyrinth--
I'm sorry you are not doing well lately. I hope things get better for you. I know you have had this for a long time, and I wish you the best for your future with this lingering condition. Do you have bad spells and then good spells? I hope so, so that at least you can feel some relief.
Good luck!
Joy
crazylabyrinth 07-09-2005, 07:56 AM Hi joy - yeh I do get bad then better spells...to be honest dizziness not as bad as it has been - same as ever really but unrelenting - its the low mood stuff and not seeing a future thats been a problem. I know alan well - hes lovely. I have cbt from him. I am under L Luxons neurotology dep but often see a registar. I am also there for VRT in Aug. Do you have MAV? Sorry i havent been reading these boards much lately...
Good luck on mon.xx
xbombshell31x 07-10-2005, 06:38 AM hi,crazy lab
yeah,i do have mav.But also have damage to nerves in left ear because of previous viruses.Dr rosalyns not sure whether the headaches have set this off again.I have had problems with my ears since i was 18.Everytime i get flu i get flare ups but in the past the dizziness only lasted 2-3 weeks. Not really sure why its lasted a year this time. They think its because i have mav and the damage that has been caused by viruses. What have you been diagnosed with?Sorry i read so many posts on here and forget.Hope your ok.take care. xx
