View Full Version : Caffiene Addiction...am I in the right place?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, so I guess I'll just try it. Anyway, I am severely addicted to caffeine. I have to have at least two bottles of pop, or two cups of coffee a day, and sometimes drink up to eight cans of mountain dew a day.

I've tried to stop drinking caffeine, but I have withdraw symptoms like migraines and tiredness, and nausea. I've stopped once before, and I felt a lot better, but I only lasted about a month before I started drinking it again. I can't even have just one, cause if I do, I'll have more.

Anyone else have this problem? Any recommendations to stop this?

Just slowly taper off. Caffeine is easy compared to what most of us around here are addicted to. Take it very slow. If you have 8 MDs one day, have 7 1/2 the next. Then 7 then 6 then 5, etc. Or have 7 for 2 days or 3 -- whatever works. Just stopping cold turkey is not going to work real well because you will get sick.

No need to cut it totally. But,a taper schedule should be easy! Just drop one cup a day for a short time. When you hit 2-4 per day you should be on track.
