I am new to this board. I still have pain in both hips (both replaced) after all this time. Wanted to find a "chatroom" to see if I was the only one. What I can not figure out is how can they hurt when they are replacement parts? I can walk for a distance, but if I sit for long periods of time I am very sore for the first few minutes. Also seem to have pain if I sleep on my side. Am I the only one that has discomfort after so long a time?

Havanasilk, Welcome to our board. If you read past posts on the six months after hip relacement thread, you will get much info on our experiences with THR. The other threads are also full of info about different problems that occur with THR. This board is a wealth of info and support. The Bio thread is also a quick history of some of the regular hippie hipsters. I'm 10yrs out from my THR and sitting has always caused stiffness and temporary soreness. It is much better to keep moving. Many hipsters will sleep on their sides with pillows between their legs. It just seems to be more comfortable. I always have to adjust my body around a bit to be comfortable on my side for any length of time. Anyway, I'm glad you found us and please check-out all the threads and keep posting. If you are so inclined, post your Bio on that thread....balleteach

Hi Havanasilk....glad you found us!! Let me ask you a question...is it "real pain" or "aches". I ask because after 1 year (next month) occasionally I get aches. I wouldn't go as far as to say "pain", but sometimes it's just darn uncomfortable. And I too have to get up after sitting a long time or I get stiff. And on occasion, it's sore for a few minutes but once I get going I'm ok. Sometimes I'll sleep with a pillow between the legs. My other hip aches during the night sometimes and this helps. In the future I see that one being replaced too. But in the DISTANT future. ;)

I do have soreness in the upper thigh area (flexor muscles) when I do stairs and step over things. I'm at the point now where I really feel that this is as good as it's going to get. But I'm still working on that. :D

As balleteach said, please post away and try to do your bio. It's fun seeing where everyone is from.

Thank you so much for the fast replys and welcome. I will try sleeping with a pillow between my legs. Some times when I am in my car I get a burning in one hip. Some times nothing. I do feel better when I walk. Seems better in the am then in the pm. Getting old is not all it was cracked up to be. I will do the bio thing and thanks for the support. :)
