Hi everyone,
So my son (age 2) who has CP had a hearing screening yesterday. ."Just a formality" I thought.. "due diligence".. Well, sure enough.. the left ear comes back with 'less' hearing than the right.. The audiologist said he did have fluid in that ear (his tube jsut fell out and he keeps a runny nose) but not enough to account for the reduction on the test she thought.
His speech delays are almost all articulation issues due (we thought) to low tone in his mouth (he's a picky eater too).
So now I've got a new thing to worry about - joy!! :)
We haven't gotten the written results yet or talked to the ENT or any of that.. i just wonder how common a hearing loss is in people with CP and how severe? The audiologist said it was on hte border of normal hearing and impaired (I guess that's the term, my husband went, I didnt')
Anyway, any advice or info anyone has is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Laurie
