My general family doctor told me I had a high liver count, ordered new bloodwork tests and sent me to the liver specialist who told me my liver count was 4,000,000 (four million!) and that the normal should be 50 and says I have hepC. I don't know where or how I got that as none of the causes of it apply to me. He immediately scheduled a colonoscopy, sent me off for a liver biopsy (he says the report shows a mild hepC) and put me on a 24wk program of interferon/ribiviran medication which is almost impossible for me to adhere to as presceibed because of communications fumbling between the doctor's office and the insurance company. Am I dealing with a quack? Four million.....?! I have requested copies for myself of these bloodwork results as well as the biopsy report.

There is no such thing as a "Liver Count"...... Your Doc is not being very specific..... A liver panel (blood Test) measures things like -
SGOT (serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase), also called AST (aspartate aminotransferase)
SGPT (serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase), also called ALT (alanine aminotransferase)
LDH (lactate dehydrogenase)
ALP or AP (alkaline phosphatase, or "alk phos").
BILIRUBIN
and some other things - So you had better get a copy of your test ASAP...... :) :) :)

Thanks, Happy Man. I feel so foolish about this whole thing. I am not a stupid person, just ignorant of all this medical mumbo jumbo as I have always been in perfect health (I'm 55). If my doc thinks I'm one of those people that doesn't want to know and tries to shove me aside with his 2-bit words he's got another think coming. Maybe that high number is the virus count? All I know is I don't want to be on this medication any more and am looking for a natural alternative. First blood test after beginning meds is this week, so I'll see where I'm at then and go from there. Thanks again.

Dont ever feel like that - you are no fool..... BUT do this - Request a copy of the original blood test.... (tell the doc you need it for insurance reasons if he dosent want to give it to you...) Remember, those results are Yours......
Then make sure you get the results from the new tests too... and see where things go.... :) :) :)
