I tore a muscle in between my knee where the joints are and the MRI
showed that it was about the tear size of a thumb nail. It is bothersome
from time to time but my docter gave me a couple of options and i just want
your personal experience or any feedback on my options which include:
Reconstructive knee surgery which i am totally against and DO NOT want to
go through, or take a pill for the rest of my life if i don't do surgery and live
with the tear in my knee till im old and grey. Which im pretty sure as i get older my knee will slowly deteriorate and i could be in pain even more but im
just not sure. So the question Should i do surgery or take a pill for the rest
of my life? What Would You Do??

Are you  talking about a total knee replacement? My Mother was 81 when she had her right knee replaced. She did great and would like to have the other one done. She was in such pain and the doctor wanted to know why she waited so long. I took over her health care and she was in the hospital for 4 days then we put her in transitional care for phy therapy at the same hospital. She was there for 1 week and then she had 4 weeks of outpantient therapy, she did great just to let you know at her age she did great. Her doctor was great and her followup care a year after has been wonderful. I hope this helps Take care and stay safe geifer

TheOneManShow, Glad you found our board. I can really only speak about THR, but my surgeon always told me that knee replacement is much more complicated. Then again, if everything goes well, I'm positive that you would end up pleased with your results. You should be pain free and able to resume a normal life. If you are going to have it done anyway, it is better to do it before you get so bad that your whole body is effected. Do some research and become informed before you make your decision. Good luck and keep us updated...balleteach
