View Full Version : Ouch!!! Foot Pain Is Killing Me!!!

I have had problems with foot pain since before I can remember. I comes and goes, but is worst whenever I stand for long periods of time. I finally couldn't stand it anymore, and after becoming unable to bear weight at all, I went to my doctor.

She diagnosed the foot pain as Plantar Fascitis, which is a painful inflamation of the tissue that holds your muscles to your bones. When Fascitis is at its worst, the tissue actually tears, and the muscles pull away from the bones, making it impossible to bear weight.

I had healed from it last time, but I was staying off of my feet. Now that I am at work again, I have developed the pain again, and tonight I could feel it tearing......eek. I have tried in-soles and cushioning in my shoes, and even special shoes to support my foot, and nothing is working.

I really don't want to be on crutches again, but if my muscles separate completely again, I'll probably have to.

Any advice?

Advil, ice ,ace bandages, orthotics - all of those together worked for me - also stretching exercises - however - it takes awhile to heel - never heard about the tearing part - was told is was an inflammation.

Good luck!

If you see your Dr. again have him tape your foot. I had mine taped for about 3 months. I have a job that I must stand & walk alot. I also use superfeet in my shoes and NO barefeet ever! I take ibprophine almost daily.

Under doctors orders, I started with stretching excercises. Progressed to taping the foot (special way). Later orthotic inserts (molded by the doctor with no weight on the foot). All the while never barefoot and no loading bearing exercises (cycling and swimming okay, but no hard walking or jogging). Also alternating heat/cold some evenings to accelerate healing.

The stretching and taping provided relief but no progress. Healing finally started with the orthotics. The process has taking 5 months, but am finally able to walk hard and begin jogging again this week. Will continue to stretch and use heat/cold.
