Hello, my name is trekgirl and have been somber for 4 years and like to come to boards to encourage people when I have time, to quit smoking. I did the patch first, then cold turkry. Was not easy and have not had one since. I know you all have had a time of it. Here is my complete story.

I was born with congetial heart defect, heart murmur. Had repair and 28 years later, replacement with a St. Jude's valve. I als now have type 2 diabetes, controled with pill. But to the story.

Six months before I quit, was told of the surgery. Thought it was the best time to quite before being forced to not being able to smoke while in hospital. Was on health community boards from the start. They helps hugely and greatly. From many problems in getting ready for surgery, support for my quit, they were marvelous. But I made it through.

Today, I share the thoughts of a former smoker. It is never easy to quit and many reasons to quit. You feer better, breathe batter, have more energy, etc. I hope for all of you to have success and become winners. You can beat the nicodemon and be champions. Just hang in there and take it one day at a time. Hugs for eveyone today.
