I posted last week about my UTI and yeast infection. Ive been on antibiotics now for 7 days and getting ready to start another round of 7 days on Macrobid. The pain is awful and I dont have any relief as of yet. The yeast infection is still there, but at least not as bad as it was. I really really just want to give up. Im still dealing with my m/s which has lessened a bit. But this pain I feel is over riding me. It burns when I go and it burns when I dont. Its a constant burning pressure feeling. I was told I can take AZO for the pain since Im allergic to the other stuff they gave me. And that does help, but the side effect I get from the AZO is throwing up. I feel alone and like this is never going to go away. I need some releif. Anyone had any similiar experienes with an UTI and found somthing that worked or helped? The Dr. said he may put me on a daily dose of Macrobid my whole preg, but shouldnt it be working by now? Maybe something else needs to be given to me. Why me? I feel like Im being punished. Im going in to have my c-section on Sept 30th and thas forever away, what do I do until then??

Hi -
Sorry you're having such a miserable time of it. I suggest drinking a lot of water every day between meals so maybe you won't throw up. Take AZO with meals so perhaps it won't nauseate you. If these things don't help, ask your OB about some antiemetic medicine (stops throwing up) you can try. Then maybe the AZO and water can keep your urinary system clear - at least until after Christmas.
Wishing you well - Barbara

Thanks for the reply. I have been drinking cranberry juice but Ill try just water. And I do eat with the AZO and it still doesnt work. I have some phenegran for nausea so Ill try that. Thank goodness I am 27 weeks and only 12 more to go. But can you imagine 12 weeks of this?!

wyliemom I am sorry for your troubles, I wanted to say you are one of the only people I've been able to relate during this pregnancy because we've had a lot of the same issues and are around the same far along. It has been such a rough ride, I'm ready to jump ship too. heh
I had a UTI at the begining of my pregnancy before I even realized I was and it was the worst thing! I lived on Cranberry juice which I don't like much at all.
I also had a yeast infection awhile back and they prescribed me some meds, I've been on antibiotics (for sinus though), phenegran and Zofran for extreme nausea which I still get to this day. I was throwing up so bad last night that my stomach was cramping.
They've got me on so many different prescribed sinus meds that aren't doing jack but making me jittery and sicker.
I don't have any advice really I'm just in the same boat and a lot of time feel alone because of it.
People always say WOW you've only got this much time left and I glare at them like "Don't even".
all I can say is good luck and hopefully we will get a little bit of relaxation before it's over. I told my man I will need a couple months just to recoop. hehe

MissT- Im sorry to hear you are also going through a rough pregnancy. Ive read your post about your sinus problems. Im on Reglan for the m/s but its not working so I stopped. Now Im just on Macrobid and the AZO, and lots of cranberry juice and water. It does feel like its never going to end, like Ill be miserable forever. They gave me gynazole for the yeast infection and you only use it one time. Well it helped a little but its still there. But what can we do? Just follow the Dr.s orders and whine to each other. Because our men definitly dont understand. I hope you start feeling better too. I know that I need some releif soon or I might have a break down..lol

Wylie - I don't have a UTI but i do have horrible heartburn. It hearts all day and even wakes me at night. Between having to go to the bathroom and the heartburn i get no slepp whatsoever. The tums don't work and now the zantac doesnt' seem like it's working either. I hate eating because everyghing hurts. I don't know how i am going to get through 12 more weeks of this.
Anyway, did you talk to your Dr. about the UTI. I thought it should clear up in about a week. It doesnt' seem like your feeling any better.

Yes and sometimes following the orders doesn't help.
I think my man is tired of hearing me whine. I know I am! I feel you on the breakdown thing. I keep thinking if I can make it through this I can have a good emotional meltdown once it's over. I am afraid if I did so now I would never recover. I have the same feelings about this will never end. I think it's because I've been pregnant all year. lol At least with my last child I didn't get pregnant until late March so I felt like I had some enjoyment, I told my man I want a bumper sticker that says I survived 2005! hehe
I have never heard of Reglan, the Zofran works on and off, sometimes when I take it though it actually makes me throw up. It's a lose lose situation sometimes.
I am just lucky I had some meat on my bones when I got pregnant because I have lost weight and still not gaining and they say in the books I should be gaining (whole pregnancy) 25-35 lbs well we will see if I can do that in two months. HA!

I have had a UTI every two months for 8+ years now. I have become a pro at them. :) My best suggestion is to eat some crackers or drink a glass of milk with the AZO tablets, it will help settle your stomache. AZO tablets work wonders, but my doctor told me that the recomended dose of AZO (2 pills) is not enough to help with the pain. 4 pills is the same strength as the prescription equivalent. The prescription is called Pyridium. Macrobid/Macrodanten work very well. They a very low dose antibiotics and do help. I hope that the AZO tablets do help you. Check with your OBGYN before you start taking 4 AZO instead of two though. (I wasn't pregnant when they advised me of this...) To all of you other ladies out there, since I have a chronic problem with UTI's, I am scared to death of TTC. I am scared of kidney failure do to the strain of a pregnancy. Is there anyone else out there that suffered from chronic UTI's and had a succesful pregnancy? I would appreciate some advice.

Babygirl-
I have struggled with heartburn also since pregnancy and before really. I saw your post and I wrote to you to try Pepcid AC, thats the only thing Ive found to work. Its not only for heartburn its also for acid reflux and you only take it once a day. I take it at night and Im fine until the following night. Zantac didnt work for me very long either. And no matter what I eat or drink I get heartburn and acid reflux. I know exactly how you feel about not wanting to eat because of the pain.
MissT-
Ive also lost weight in the beginning about 12 lbs, and Ive only gained 5 of it back. But Im all baby and she is growing so I try not to worry about the weight part. We have enough to worry about with everything else. The Reglan works to break down food faster and that way its not always coming up my throat. But it doesnt work and Ive stopped taking it. It also would make me throw up some times. It does feel like Ive been pregnant forever, but Im glad that I know she will be here Sept 30th. Im having a c-section, my other 2 were also c-sections. It seems forever away but when it comes and goes we will wonder what happened.lol. Hang in there and you can always whine to me, just send me a post..hehe.
Kwt236-
I also get them often even before pregnancy. And they always cleared up with my 7 day macrobid. With the AZO I only take one every 6-7 hrs, because they make me really sick if I take more. I have a prescription for Pyridium and Im allergic to those so I cant take those either. They make me violently throw up wether I eat or not with them, which I always did. Ive been on Macrobid now for 8 days and I still have 9 more days to go. It didnt clear up with the first 7 days, so he put me on them for 10 more days. The AZO do help to make it tolerable, but walking always hurts still so I dont do that much. I also have a yeast infection and it wont seem to go away and I wonder if its due to the AZO and the macrobid Im taking. Im just miserable, last night was the first night I didnt wake up hurting and having to eat so I could take an AZO. So maybe its finally easing up a bit. Thanks for your reply. Im sorry you also struggle with UTI's. I dont think that getting pregnant would cause kidney failure because of your chronic UTI's. Im not really sure but its something Ill check into for you.

Just as I though hey maybe its getting better, because I didnt have any pain last night. HA.. All day Ive been hurting and Ive been taking the AZO and drinking nothing but water. Its driving me crazy, I just want it to go away. Im doing what Im suppose to be doing, why isnt it getting better? I read to try eating a can of asparagus every day for 5 days. So Im gonna try that, thank goodness I like asparagus. Ive also read to try cranberry concentrate so Im gonna do that too. Ill keep yall posted on the outcome. I just want to SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
